We'll be using DME for the first time next month and have a few questions. We arrive at 11:55 on a Wednesday morning and are staying at the Yacht Club. How long, realistically, will it take us to arrive at the resort?

I'm also wondering how busses are "assigned"? Will there be a bus to the Epcot resorts and another to the MK resorts - or are we all piled together based on arrival time and just cruise the World dropping off people??

Thanks! :)

Just based on our experience using DME twice. It will take anywhere from 60 - 90 minutes from the time your plane lands to the check-in desks at the resorts. That time included waiting to deplane, transportation to the main side of the airport to catch DME, checking in at DME and then taking the bus to your resort. The busses by our experience are group by resort area. The Yacht and Beach Club was grouped with CBR, & Boardwalk. SSR was grouped with OKW, POFQ, & POR. Hope this answers your question.

GOing to Disney, buses are not assigned time wise. No problem if you dilly dally at the airport food court except after 10 PM when someone in your party should report immediately to the ME welcoming area. Buses rarely make more than 3 stops before yours although which stops they are can vary.

Going home, buses ARE assigned. You must be punctual since the bus closes its door at the time your confirmation states. Suggest not having a meal (adds another dimension to timing logistics) just before ME home but instead try to grab something at the airport. You can even request an earlier bus at least a day in advance for this purpose. Buses rarely make more than 3 stops after yours.

Going from the airport to resorts, buses tend to be generally grouped by geography, but there aren't exact routes or exact groupings of resorts. It all depends on need -- since reservations are required, they pretty much know how many people are going to which resorts at what times, so they can plan and dispatch pretty well.

The max number of resorts any bus will stop at is 4. Four is uncommon, three is more common. I agree with the 60-90 minute estimate. It's been reported by a reliable source that Disney estimates the average time to be 70 minutes. The two times I used DME, my times from plane to resort were 63 minutes and 56 minutes.

I thought of another question. How far in advance are your luggage tags sent to you? I haven't been able to enter the DME reservation yet because my company's convention department hasn't submitted individual names for rooms yet to Disney.

We received our DME package about a week or two ago for an end of February trip (so 5 or 6 weeks before our trip). Not sure if this is standard procedure though.

We're only 4 weeks out now - how close have people gotten their luggage tags?
