We are staying at SSR and will be taking the DME from the airport. I was wondering if you have to get off at your resort. We are thinking about taking the kids fishing at POR that morning when we get there and thought maybe we could just get off at POR instead of SSR. It would be easier than having to go to Disney Springs to take the boat to POR.

DME buses follow no specific route and stop depending upon where passengers are scheduled to be dropped off. You are assigned a bus that will go to your scheduled destination.

There is no guarantee your bus is going anywhere other than your destination.

Disney does not check tickets as you get off the bus.

You have to take your assigned bus. If your bus was also going to POR, you could get off there (assuming you don't have anything stored under the bus,) but that's pretty unlikely to be the case

Thanks! I just thought I'd ask. I wasn't sure how the buses worked exactly, as we usually rent a car.

Actually, every time we've stayed at POR or POFQ the bus has stopped at SSR first. That's not to say it does every time but I wouldn't call it unlikely. They should know when boarding if it's going to go to the PO resorts too, the driver typically announces it. If not, they'll have to ask if they get to SSR first. SSR has dropped before the PO resorts on all our stays at a PO resort.
They would have to deal with any carry on bags in doing so.
Personally, it would be easier to just get off at SSR, walk to the boat and take that to POR. That way, they don't have to tote bags all over the place. Even just a backpack, if it's from a flight it's likely got a lot of crap in it.

Boats don't do that. OP would have to boat from SSR to DS, then take a different line to PO.
I never said take a boat from SSR (sorry, I guess it was implied only) I forget SSR has a boat to DS, since you can walk.
I suggest walk to the boat at DS and take that boat to POR

When you arrive at the Magical Express area at the Orlando airport, you will present your Magic Band or ticket and be directed to a line to wait for a bus. Most buses stop at 3 or 4 resorts. You need to board the bus that is going to your resort, because buses are scheduled based on the number of people going to each resort, and they often travel full or nearly full. When you board the bus, you can place carry-on luggage in a storage area underneath the bus, or bring it with you onto the bus.

If the bus to your resort is also stopping at a different resort where you want to exit, you could let the driver know when you board that you'll be exiting at that resort. Because buses don't load passengers at the same time as they unload (and therefore don't need to keep track of how many at each stop), getting off early or late shouldn't be a problem, but I haven't done it. You would, however, have to bring off the bus any luggage that you brought on, including luggage stored underneath. You would then need to carry that luggage on a boat or bus to the resort where you're staying.

I agree with AngiTN that if you have any luggage, you're better off stopping at Saratoga Springs first before going to Port Orleans.

Good point about the crap in our backpacks! I was just trying to save a little extra time, but I think we'll just plan on stopping at SSR and then boating to DS and on to POR.

We are planning on checking just one big suitcase and then the rest of us having a backpack. Do you suggest getting the checked luggage ourselves or letting Disney grab it? Wasn't sure how many people brought their luggage along with them. We'll be landing around 9am, so not likely to get in our room until much later ini the afternoon, so we were planning on not even dealing with our luggage because we'd have to leave it with the bell hop anyway until our room was ready.

I always let ME get mine personally. I have everything I need with me for the next 24 hours. So it matters not how long my bag takes to reach me.
