We are flying to Disney for the first time in March. Once you arrive at the airport how long do you usually have to wait for transportation to your resort? We'll have family coming in late morning the day after we arrive and I'm trying to figure out what time to book ADRs.

Thanks!

From the time we "land" (not disembark the plane) we are always at our resort within 90 minutes and often closer to 60 for us. Now that said, we don't pick up luggage and we have almost always been first drop off on DME. That is 'our experience'.

I always give time estimates from the time you leave the gate area rather then when you actually land. Why? Well...it can take various times to get to the gate...I've been on planes that motored right on up to the gate..other times we sat there and waited for a gate to be opened.
If you want to base your time from the time you land, you need to add 15 mins to the times many here give you.

So...we usually find that an average of 70 mins, from gate to resort, is the time to plan on. The time can be as short as 45 mins, or as long as 90.
Here is a breakdown of my times, using DME...
Gate to tram...usually about 5 mins
Tram to terminal...1-8 mins
Tram to DME area...5-10 mins, depending on pace
Checkin....usually right around 2 mins, unless you need to go to the counter
Bus line....0-20 mins
On bus....0-20 mins
Ride to resort.....25-40 mins, depending on which stop you are.

So, you can see that your time can be anywhere from 40 mins to 105 mins. Most of my trips hover around 70, with one or two under an hour, and one at 85 mins. I've used DME about 10+ times to date.

Also, keep in mind when booking ADRs....you can experience flight delays...so don't plan for any ADRs too closely that day. I don't usually plan anything that is less than 6 hrs after I touch down!!! I've missed things due to flights being cancelled because of maintainence issues...landed 4 hrs late!!!

MY BAD for not clarifying that when I meant landing...I was implying the point at which we were able to unbuckle not literally touchdown... guess I should've been much more specific in my post!

You always need to post time once you have deboarded.

You do not know if the person is in the back of the plane, has tons of carry-ons, waiting for strollers or stand by baggage.

I once remember two sisters, multiple children and a grandfather standing in the aisle trying to decide which cousin would walk out together. What a mess.

It is best to give accurate info and say once you go through the deboarding process, it is X to X amount of time. Novices are happy with that and it is usually spot on.

The beginning of Nov I got to my cabin at FW 2 hours after the plane arrived at the gate. The reasons that it took so long was that I was the last person off a flight that was completely full (143 passengers), I also retrieved a bag at baggage claim (we always take one bag on the bus so that we can change into vacation clothes before the bags arrive via Magical Express), and we were the 2nd Resort to be dropped off.

Of course, I'm the rule breaker that is unbuckled as soon as we are off the runway and headed to the gate!!!

And this is why I always have my change of clothes in my carryon bag!!! Just in case something happens to my checked bag!!! Or, in the case of WDW, I can just let DME handle the bags...I have a change in my tote bag!!!!
And like you...I am usually at the back of the plane, so stand there waiting.
