DME Question

I am arriving to WDW via DME with 6 people but when I am "heading home" I am splitting from my group to surprise my girlfriend with a 3 night stay on Sanibel Island. My question is, can I go on the DME bus back to the airport with my group to maintain the surprise till the last second and then get my rental car there, or do I have to do this a different way? Will Disney bend the rules or have they ever? Thanks for any help in this matter!

DME doesn't care how you got to the airport or what you do after they drop you off so if your talking about going back to the airport on check out day and renting a car instead of flying that is fine.

You do have to have an advance reservation and be a resort guest. Just call DME directly and make the reservation - to make things eaier you can use the flight your friends are deparing on for your and your girlfriends flight info.
