DME Question

The last time I used Disney's Magical Express was Memorial Day weekend 2009. It worked like a dream and everything was so easy. I didn't check any bags and when I landed at MCO around 4 PM that Friday afternoon, I basically walked right onto a shuttle that left almost immediately for my resort. I'm assuming this experience isn't typical, just lucky, but could it be that my 4 PM arrival landed me in between crowds?

What should I realistically expect in terms of airport crowds, wait times, etc, if I'm traveling next weekend, again arriving on that same flight that puts me into MCO around 4:30 on the Friday afternoon of another holiday weekend?? Do you think I can make it to Pop by 7:00 PM that night??

Thanks!!

You should be fine. We've never had to wait on the bus for over 20 minutes before it pulled out of the airport. Of course, when you really can't wait to get to your resort, it seems like forever. But it really isn't very long at all.

If you use the DME luggage transfer service or have only carry-on bags, you should be at your resort within 90 minutes and frequently will arrive faster than that.

Absolute worst case scenario that I have had....
walk from tram to DME area....10 mins
wait at counter to checkin....10 mins
wait in bus line.....10 mins
wait on bus..10 mins
ride to resort...45 mins (third of three stops, with longer than usual stops at first two resorts)
Total time=85 mins

Best case scenario I've had took 50 mins...really nice.

Average time is about 70 mins. I haven't found that time of day makes much difference, other than very early in the day or very late at night. From about 10am to 8pm the buses are running as frequently as possible...every 20 mins or so.

Thanks so much! Your posts really helped me get a handle on what to expect so I can more accurately plan out my night.

We arrived on Dec 29. Striaght to DME and to bus line - no need to visit counter.

3 min in bus line and then on the bus which pulled right out.

Quick stop at POR to drop off 2 familes, then us at YC. Bus was then dropping off a family at BWI.

Exited plane at 1030AM and were literally in our room at 1200PM
