What is the current DME pick-up timeframe to go back to MCO? Is it 3 hours prior to your flight? Thanks!

Hi, yes 3 hours! On a side note on this. I had not flown since 9/11 when I went to Disney last November. I had some heartburn over leaving sooo early for the airport..excessive I thought! Considered uber instead..but got a late flight home so I was satisfied and decided to go with MDE ..WELL they got me there direct route no stops THEN I hit the mass crowd to get through security on a week day..INSANE ...long wait there then arrived at the long wait to be screened..took forever!!!! I arrived at my gate with about 40 minutes to my flight..and I still needed something to eat!!! I am sure hoping Orlando is not always this way (I fly from small potatoes Montana)
but I wont risk the stress of departing any later. Not worth it for a worrier like me! I like my butt in a seat at my gate an hour before my flight.

Absolutely! We have taken private cars for the past few years just to get to WDW as quickly as possible and give us some extra time on our departing day. However, with the waits at MCO, the private cars are now suggesting pick-ups at 2 1/2 hours prior to the flight (as opposed to 2 hours in the past), so there really isn't a reason NOT to take MDE back to MCO anymore. It would be nice to save some money as well!

It's worth mentioning that TSA Pre Check is good to get. It's good for 5 years and saves so much time going through security.

Keep in mind too that you need to be at the DME bus stop, ready to go, 15 minutes prior to the time you are given. The time given is the estimated departure time, and if you miss your bus you have to make your own way back to MCO.

The TSA precheck works well at MCO: it seems like no one has it so you speed right through. Saves a lot of time.

I haven't "applied" for TSA Pre- Check, but I fly so much to MCO,I almost always get the "complimentary" TSA Pre-Check both ways!It is awesome!

Not in my experience. A lot of people had been randomly given it and were just as clueless in that line.

Also if your flight is super early or super late it may not even be open.

That's why the pick up time is 3 hours before departure. Traffic on the highway can come to a stop, and you could be delayed getting to the airport. And yes, TSA gets backed up like that all the time. Disney does not want to be responsible for people missing flights, so they leave plenty of time for delays.

This is worth mentioning again. DME leaves the bus stop 3 hours ahead. You need to be waiting 15 minutes prior to pick up time giving you time to sore your carry on and be seated.

Ah too bad. There were 5 or less people in line the several times we have used it there. Maybe they are giving out more random prechecks so people purchase it. The problem is, if only one person in your party gets it, only that person can go through, so many families can't use it. This happened to us a couple of times before we purchased it.

Lucky! Supposedly they are giving it away less so people have to buy it.

Yeah, this was a couple of years ago when they were randomly giving it away to try to entice people to buy it. And there were some people who didn't get the memo that if only one person had it they could not all use it and I think that was the primary problem.

It did move slightly faster than the other lines...but not much.

I think a big part of the issue is the TSA agents at MCO are on some kind of power trip - even moreso than other places INCLUDING NYC. I still remember being yelled at (pre-pre check) for not answering when they yelled "Who left a DVD player in their bag???" and they finally held it up and it was mine. It was a nook e-reader which any other airport allows you to leave in your bag but MCO is special and wants it out. I didn't answer until they held up the bag because I didn't have a DVD player so I didn't think it applied to me. That's only one example of their TSA I've encountered. And yet a friend of mine got through with an entire bottle of water after Disney Marathon Weekend one time. INSANITY.

I have found this as well. They seem to pick my youngest son for extra screening every time, and one time, it was pretty harsh.

Our DME a couple weeks ago was only scheduled for 2 hours 40 minutes before our flight, and we still had another pickup to go. By the time we got 4 kids through security (minimal line at security, but we went through the wheelchair accessible line for my FIL so that moves super slowly) and had them use the bathroom the plane was already boarding.

We have the CLEAR pass and it is a lifesaver at MCO. Their security lines are absolutely ridiculous. And the agents are really abrupt and unkind. Which is crazy considering the amount of families that fly out of MCO. It is dedifinitely an abrupt end to your magical Disney vacation.... It slams you back into reality very quickly!
