Can you take DME only one way?

We are taking a cruise (not DCL)and then heading to WDW. Can we take DME back to the airport?

Thanks!

I was told it's allowed. We just need a ride to the airport. You do need to arrange ahead of time. (We're from CLE, too!)

Yes, no problem. When you get to your resort, set it up then. Just be sure to make the reservation for the return to the airport several days before you are leaving.

We just did this on Oct. 1 and it worked great. Just give the hotel conceirge the flight information when you arrive and they will handle the reservation.

Awesome!

Now can anyone give me advice for getting to a hotel at Port Canaveral; then to port; then port to WDW?

This is too confusing!!

I was thinking of renting a car and returning it at the Port for about $30. So that would get me those two legs, but then how can I get to WDW?

It's just me and DH so the towncar services are too expensive.

We are heading down in Aug...staying at BWV for 6 days, then renting a car and driving to Port Canaveral for two nights before our cruise. When we get to port, we'll return the car. Then, most likely we'll use DCL bus to get us to the airport. In your case, I would be tempted to price out a rental for the trip to port, keeping it and driving to WDW and returning it there. Or taking it in two sections...one rental from the airport to port, return it there. Then rent a different car for the trip back to WDW and return the car there.

That's what I was thinking too until DH decided he'd rather just bite the bullet and cruise with DCL. :teeth: We'll probably still rent a car, but since he wants to wait until 2008 :guilty: , I've got plenty of time (and different scenarios) to go through. :teeth: Thanks for all the help! :teeth:

Make sure the desk gives you a paper/pass to get on the ME bus at the resort. I didn't know to ask for one and they- the front desk- didn't volunteer to give me one! I had made my reservation ahead of time but just for the ride back. When the bus driver asked for one I was worried when he said go back over to the luggage desk and they will give you one, well the line was about 50 people long and I was just with my 8 yr old! The driver was so nice he said leave your carry ons I'll put them on the bus Have your son get on and you go get the pass ,when I looked at the line he said don't worry I won't leave without you. And he didn't! I went to the line but was able to get one of the handlers attention and they gave me the pass without waiting thru 50 people ( I didn't effect the people in line anyway because they were checking in luggage and the woman who got me the pass was a handler not a desk person) The bus was a very easy way to get to the airport.

I agree with the "rent a car at the airport, drive to the port, return the car, go on the cruise, rent another car on your return, drive to Disney, return the car" suggestion. Each rental would be one day, therefore MUCH less expensive than any other option.

I'm fuzzy on DME details, we're trying to decide if we want to use it for one leag of our trip, returning to the airport-
Do we have to give our info to the desk at check in? And if we're not on a participating airline, how do we use it? Show our plane tickets anyway?
Or do we still have time to decide and think what we want to do? We were considering just taking a taxi also, for ease of use and just getting where we wanted to go quickly.... This is why we're considering NOT using it, we're confused! :rotfl:

We are taking it one way to the resort in a few weeks....!!!!
