We have always had a rental car but this time- with a short trip- we thought DME would be best. How long does it take to get from MCO to resort (we are staying at BWI). Our flight gets in at 6pm. With a flight that gets in during the evening- would it be best if we grabbed our luggage from the baggage claim? Or do they still put the luggage in our rooms?

As long as your flight gets in before 10 pm, the Mouse will have his people bring your luggage to your room. Just make sure to put the special tags on your bags.

Oh - I usually figure about an hour to get to the resort, though it depends on how long you have to wait for the Magical Express.

I would plan at least an hour for you to get to your resort. Bags will take longer. How late do you stay up? Could you do carry on? We've done that.

You can have them get your bags. Know though, they won't likely make it to your room before midnight
You can go on and have them bring the bags or you can ask Bell Services to hold them till morning. If you opt to have them hold the bags you want to put the Do Not Disturb sign out, just to be extra safe they don't bother you.

We always arrive around 6pm so we collect our cases before we go to DME.

We check in, grab some food and settle in to our room. While DH and boys shower I unpack and then we are good to go bright and early the next morning

Thanks- we have 2 DS (3&7) and want to make sure we have an extra set of clothes and am worried about getting into the resort late, suitcases late, and waking the boys up.

The talked about "budget" time from gate to your resort lobby is 90 minutes. So if you walk off the plane at 6pm, you should be walking into to your lobby around 7:30p.
The talked about "budget" time for you luggage to get to your room is 3-4 hours from check in. So if you walk into the lobby at 7:30p, you should be checked in around 7:45. Luggage should be delivered between 10:45-11:45p.

Any time you're flying, you should ALWAYS carry on a bag with immediately needed clothes/medicines/etc. This has nothing to do with DME and everything to do with airlines possibly misdirecting your luggage.

Assuming you have the stuff you need in your carry on, at whatever point you decide you don't want to wait up for luggage delivery, contact bell services and ask them to hold your bags until the next morning. Also put the Do Not Disturb sign on your door.
