DME - how long to get to resort?

We'll be arriving MCO at 5:18pm and will be staying at AKL. I want to make an ADR for Boma that evening. What time should I make it for? Any idea as to the average time it takes to get to AKL using DME? Thanks everyone!

If you do a search you'll find this question gets asked very often. The general consensus is it takes about 70-90 minutes from the time you get off the plane until the time you walk into your resort, assuming you do not wait for your bags at baggage claim.

A few things to consider:

• Just because your flight is scheduled to arrive at 5:18 p.m., there's no guarantee that it actually will. Delays of up to an hour are common; delays of more than an hour are possible, but rare.
• For DME, a good rule of thumb is 60-90 minutes from your arrival gate to the lobby of your resort (if you use the yellow tags so that you can bypass baggage claim).
• I see you're from Victoria, BC, Canada. I assume you'll go through US Customs and Border Protection clearance before landing in Orlando. If not, be sure to allow time for it in Orlando.
• Be sure to allow enough time to check in at AKL, get to your room, and get to Boma. Check-ins at Disney resorts can be time-consuming, especially if there's a long line.

Boma is a great choice. It's in your resort and the restaurant is likely to be accomodating if your flight is delayed.

I'd probably make the reservation for 7-7:30p. That'll give you an hour or so in case your flight is delayed or you have a wait to check in.

Thanks so much for you replies. We're lucky in that we have to change planes in Seattle after a short 30 minute flight off of Vancouver Island. We'll clear customs there so that's a good thing - I'm just hoping as you mentioned, that our flight isn't delayed leaving Seattle at all but, if it is not too long. I'll bite the bullet and make the ADR for 8:00pm which will feel like 5:00pm to us anyway.

Using DME for getting to POP about three times now.....once the bus went to AKL first, so it took those folks about 65 minutes from deplaning. The other times POP got dropped off first, so I can't give you an exact time.
I would plan on being at AKL about 6:30ish. You'll probably want to freshen up first, so try to make your ADR for about 8ish...just to be safe.
