DME for reservation on given points

Friends of our booked a room for our other friend's. The reservation is now in their name. I can pull it up on mydisneyreservation.com

How do we setup magical express my friend said they would do it for them but didn't want to bother them anymore.

I know they can't call member services.

Can they just call magical express themselves, but I remember member services telling me to not have them call DME either cause when they see it's a reservation from a member they won't talk to them either even though it's in their name.

How do all you guys who buy points from members or brokers get it set up?

IMO the owner should set it up as part of renting their points for a reservation. DME doesn't even want direct calls from DVC owners until the DME reservation is set up by MS.

Can you as a member book it. If you have a reservation number go on line and book it through your membership. Is this allowed?
 
DD & i ran out of points for our may trip, so my (wonderful:lovestruc) friend booked our first night on her points.

once i added the 1 night reservation to MDE, i was able to book the incoming DME on the website.

as PPs said, MS will only speak with the DVC owner.

So if I have them setup a mde account we could link the reservation and then add it ourselves?

My next 2 trips had magical express already added so I couldn't play with my account.

She said she would. I didn't want to bother her cause she's already helping us out by giving us points. I just felt bad. If we can't do it easily on our own I will have her do it.

I'd contact ME directly if you really want to try and not go thru the owner. At worst they'll say they can't help. But setting up ME doesn't take much time for the member - they can call or fill out the online form.

Make sure you have all the info required when asking the owner to make the DME reservation. When I did it through points I rented, I had to provide names, flight numbers, landing time, and the city we were flying from into MCO (I didn't know that I needed to provide this last one).

Just do walk up for ME when you arrive at MCO = easy. I'd get my own luggage - course I do that anyway ;)

I know we can do that, but ah 4 kids with us and 3 are 3 and under. I want my usual easy disney trip where all i got to carry to the hotel is my camera gear and the 2 folding strollers.

im just going to have our friends book it for us i think.
