Just booked our GG for 13 from Dec 6-12! We're all staying at POR in Acadia House and can hardly wait!!

DH and I have always flown out of Detroit because it's convenient and cheaper than flying from Toronto. For this trip we will all be flying from Detroit except for two who have to leave from Toronto.

Does anyone have experience using DME after an international flight? How does it work with your luggage?

Going down is exactly the same. Put on the luggage tags and then the luggage shows up in your room.

Coming back you have to you have to take your own luggage on the bus and to the airport checkin.

Since most likely that you will clear customs in Toronto. It would be treated as a domestic flight.

Thanks for the info. I thought they would have to go through customs in Orlando. Sounds like it should be pretty easy.:)

Just a reminder - DME picks up International passengers (Canadians) 4 hours prior to departure time.

That's good to know. Especially since they are travelling with a two year old. Thanks for the head's up.:)

Obviously you have to get your luggage and clear customs somewhere.

(copied from another post) If you have to clear or re-clear customs in Orlando, you can optionally put your luggage on the other conveyor belt and leave the customs station empty handed. Magical Express will take over from there.

If you did not take your luggage out of the Orlando customs station yourself and it is after 10 PM, it along with all U.S. domestic DME luggage will appear on the carousels over in the main terminal to be fetched manually there.

If you get your DME confirmation (day before checkout) showing your bus back to the airport 3 hours befor your flight, do not gloat over the extra park time you have. A goof has occurred and you need to fix it to be the required 4 hours down at the resort front desk before heading to the parks for that second to last day.
