DME and carrying your own luggage

I'm flying in tomorrow and checking a bag. However, I'm only checking it because it was cheaper than paying to use it as a carry on (flying Spirit where they charge you for every damn thing).

My question is, can I pick up my luggage myself and keep in on the bus with me? It is a carry on size bag. I'm hoping to get an early check in, and I'd rather just bring the bag to the room myself.

Is this allowed?

Yes, just don't attach the yellow DME luggage tag.

We booked this so last minute I don't even have luggage tags!

Yes! Don't put on the tag, pick it up yourself, and you can put it on the bottom of the bus. I do this each time just for convenience.

Yep. I always get my own bags when I use DME. I just don't put the yellow tags on them.

Make sure you have cash on hand to tip the driver.
