Now that we are almost 4 full months into the new dining plans, I am wondering how many people that have used the deluxe plan liked it? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. We are going in December and are planning to use the deluxe plan.

We used it in January and liked it.. We will be using it again in July this year.

We booked the deluxe at a discounted rate vs. free dining, we originally had been paying for deluxe, but I'll take it discounted. We really like the "idea" of 3 meals per day, as our children are used to. I'm hoping we enjoy it.

Can you share with us which type of discount did you get for the Deluxe DDP? and when are you going?

We love it! Our own personal opinion is how do people not like it......we won't go to Disney without it now :) You don't have to eat everything you order, their food costs are the same whether you eat it or not. I love the idea of TS.....good unwinding time and great food. I don't have to eat burgers and fries all the time. I hope they keep these plans!

Thank you for speaking for all of us who love the Deluxe plan. We never have any problem finishing up all those delicious food being served to us. I personally prefer to relax in a nice restaurant during the mid-afternoon hours. :goodvibes

We used the DXDDP 2 weeks ago & loved it. We got to do 3 signature restaurants, pizza late one night, use some snack credits for breakfast (love those beignets :lovestruc ), have snacks for the ride home & some to take back for souveniers. (little boxes of cookies for friends kids)

It is definately something I would do again. We enjoyed having the break of at least 2TS a day. The little bit over an hour we spent in the restaurants were a welcome break & recharged our batteries. :banana:

The convenience of having it already paid for was nice too. Tipping wasn't a big deal because using the menus on line I was able to figure out about how much cash to bring.

The DX plan worked perfectly for our family.

We also love love love the delux dp. It was not too much food, and the one meal we used for CS credits made us realize why we don't like CS meals - the CS meal took a good 2 hours by the time Mom (me) waited in line for food in several different lines (each family member wanted something different, and each station is for only one or 2 certain foods) and then finding a seat/table for the family, taking the food to the table, getting drinks, condiments, etc, boy was I tired!! What a stressful way to eat lunch.

I now prefer the luxury of sitting down in a nice air conditioned restaurant and being waited on. Our family's experience with the delux plan was very positive, and we won't do Disney without it again!! Oh, and the 2 snacks a day and the refillable mugs meant we had to bring no extra grocery items or bottles of water or soda when we were packing for our trip :thumbsup2

We are going and using the DlxDDP. I have a quick question. I know it has probably already been asked and answered, but I'll ask anyway.

Okay, so we have the hotel booked for a total of 7 nights. There are 3 of us. Me DH and DS 11. So, if my calculations are correct we would each have a total of 21 meals and 14 snacks to use for the trip.

7x3=21
2x7=14

Am I correct to assume that we wouldn't get one for the day that we leave? I just wanted to make sure.

Sorry if this question has already been asked.

Michelle

Yes you would have 21 meals for each person and 14 snacks for each person of course anyone in your party can share the snacks. We are arriving very early on check in day and leaving very late on departure day so we are spreading our meals out over 8 days.

Yes and no you'll get 3x7x3 or 63 Meal credit and 3x7x2 or 42 Snack credits for your group. There is no rule that says you each only get to use so many. So if you use 16 snack credits, DH 10 and DS 16, DH can say "hey..." but its all fine w/in the Disney rules! My mother certainly had a great appreciation for this rule when it came to snack credits. She also knew there was no "checking" Mom so she was truly "empowered" to snack her way around the world. We're leaving her home this trip, though she has the power to be a day 46 addition!

We'll be there during the "free dining". Sept.6 - 13. We have little kids and wanted to make time to stop and rest, so the 3 meals per day, is fine for us.

As for it being discounted, I got the deluxe plan for the cost of the basic, since it falls during the free dining. So, our original price for 8 days 7 nights, WL woodsview w/ bunk beds, 7 day park hoppper and deluxe dining was $4,083 (with AAA discount). When free dining came out, I lost my AAA discount, was able to apply the discounted deluxe dining to my package and ended up saving $358, so now my package is $3,725 for 2 adults and 2 children (ages 3 & 9 at travel).

We could've saved a ton more if we downgraded our resort, but since we don't go every year, I insisted that we stay deluxe and make the most of it, even if we're not in the room all that much.

We are going 8/28 to 9/1 and are staying at POP (which DD6 LOVES :lovestruc ) and we upgraded FreeDDP to DlxDDP. I am VERY happy that we did the food upgrade and not the resort upgrade (would have been about the same price).

I like the idea of being able to enjoy sit down meals and feel that DD6 will eat better than "on the fly" every day. Also, we NEVER order appetizers & dessert if we EVER happen to eat out at home (rare occasion), so I will enjoy the treat of ordering them on vacation!! :cool1: However, I scheduled character breakfasts - left lunch & snacks open - and scheduled dinners (some character) w/one dinner show!

We have more than enough credits for our entire trip!!! I am TOTALLY EXCITED!!!! :banana: :banana: :banana:

I wish we could go during the "free DDP" period. It would have save us thousands for our grand gathering group of 11. We can't wait until late August because 2 of the teens who will be off to college.
:scared1:
