Trip report DAY 1

It was an early start, 6.30am, are taxi was due to pick us up at 7.am, we got up dressed and had a cup of tea and decided to get breakfast at the airport, we got to the Airport at about 7.10am and went straight to the check in desk, there was only one person in front of us, for some reason it took them ages to finish at the check in desk, we waited for about 30 minutes waiting for them to finish. After we finally checked in we headed to departures and we were greeted with the biggest queue we have ever seen to get through security, no time for breakfast now, we joined the queue straight away, however it moved quite quickly and it took about an hour to get through, which does sound a lot however it looked much worse. Apparently the queues are like that every morning till about 10am as people don’t know what they are allowed to take through security; at least we know to get to the Airport early in September. Once we were through security we had 25 minutes to get something to eat, otherwise we will not be able to get anything till about 1.o clock, we made a very quick dash to star bucks, and I got a Panini, and DD and DBF got a muffin. We managed to eat them in time and made boarding of our Air France flight in time. They was a slight delay while we were on the plan and the captain when into so much detail explaining why, due to workmen on the runway and missed slots, he spent about 10minutes explaining.

As we took of me and DD played spot our house as sometimes we can see are house clearly as we take off as we live near the Airport, we did not see it this time; however saw lots of places we recognised.
We landed on time at CDG, and I was so relived we did not have to go on a shuttle bus to get to the terminal, I hate these shuttle buses, we collected are bags and went to get the VEA shuttle bus, and one was already there, we got straight on the bus.
The first thing we saw of DLP from the bus was the new Tower of Terror; DBF actually thought it was a block of flats. I must have sounded a bit of a geek on the bus explaining everything to DBF.
One thing I really enjoy about getting the VEA is driving around the other hotels; DBF admired the buildings of Sequoia Lodge and the Cheyenne.

We then arrived at our hotel, The Disneyland Hotel, we were staying in the Castle Club, and when we went to give our bags to the bell boy he told us to wait for him in the lobby, which we did, two minutes later he returned and took us up to the castle club floor, he chatted to us along the way, and even suggested that I could get a job as a Disney Tour guide, “are you offering?”. You go up to the castle club floor using a key to activate a private lift, the bell boy showed us how to use it and then left us with the Castle Club receptionist, who was British and also spoke very good French. She explained everything to do, how to use the VIP fast pass which you get when staying at Castle Club, breakfast and afternoon tea in the castle club lounge, after she checked us in, she escorted us to the room which was ready early, we decided to go straight down to the park, we took the lift which takes you straight underneath the Disneyland hotel, just steps away from the turnstile, it was literally minutes from our room to the Disneyland Park.

We headed straight to tea cups, which they was no queue for, DBF always spins them really fast which makes me feel dizzy.

After teacups we went straight on to “It’s a Small World” which is not quite the same without the stunned look of my sister, she is convinced the dolls are trying to hypnotise her, my DD however loves this ride.
We then used the VIP fast pass for the first time and went on peterpan with only a minute wait, and after that we headed to DD favourite BTM again using the VIP fast pass, it was DBF first time on this ride and he pretended to be scared to amuse DD, In the queue I saw that The mark twain paddle boat was working and was really excited as I have never been on it before as it has always be closed. So after BTM we went on the Mark Twain, the weather was quite bad now, very windy and cold, however I took some pictures and I enjoyed the ride up till the point is started hail stoning,

(before the weather turned bad!
as soon as we got of the ride we headed back to the hotel, with a quick dash through the under cover walk way, the parade was still on and the princesses had my sympathy, standing on those floats while been pelted with hailstones, can’t have been much fun. Luckily staying at the Castle Club meant we could get inside quickly and pretty much stay mostly under cover the whole way back. We decided to go and get changed in our room before going for the afternoon tea, when we arrived in the room, we found a lovely surprise of a bottle of champagne a Pluto beanie toy for DD and a card, we decided we would have the champagne after dinner.

We then went to Afternoon tea, which consisted of cookies, pastries, fruit salads and some sandwiches which would disappear as soon as they came out, I remember putting two sandwiches on a plate for DD and then turned around for two seconds to get a plate for my self and when I turned back they had all gone! They only had sandwiches on two days out of the size we were there. To drink we had tea and coffee which was served on lovely plates. We than sat and relaxed while DD watched the cartoons on the TV they had in the lounge, she seemed to love it even though they were in French.

We had dinner reservations at inventions that night, a character buffet at the Disneyland hotel, DD wore her Sleeping beauty costume for the dinner and was very excited to have dinner here however we found it very disappointing, the food was okay, though not very warm, I had steak, potatoes, and some veg, the kids offerings were not that great, DD had pizza which is not worth the price we paid. The most disappointing thing though was the character interaction, it was very dull and they did not really interact with the children very well and they seem to disappear for large length of time all at the same time, we waited a long time just for a character to come, we tried to take our time with are meal so we would get to see some characters however the CM kept trying to rush us, after are main we wanted to wait before getting dessert however he obviously wanted us to get it straight away. We managed to get quick pictures with eeyore, Mickey and the Cinderella mice however I would rather go Café Mickey in future.

What a lovely report, Claire, thanks for sharing. The Disneyland Hotel sounds just magical, it is my dream to stay there. :cloud9: The champagne and pluto was a lovely surprise. And I love the picture of your little girl on the teacups!

Laur's princess:

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel around Christmas time and we too were really pleased to be able to rush back to the hotel when the weather got too bad to be in the parks.

Looking forward to day 2. Thanks for a great report.
