I recently heard changes were being made to the DLRP Pirates of the Carribean-I know WDW has already had this, but i heard there was to be a waterfall with an image of Davey Jones, Cap'n Jack was getting added, as was an all new soundtrack...

anyone been recently who can confirm or deny this..?

If it has been done i better book mr. sparrow his seat on the plane home...:rolleyes1

Nope, we were there last week and were disappointed that it hadn't been updated :sad1:

What age is the POTC ride suitable for? I was re reading (for the millionth time) my brit guide to disneyland Paris last night and didn't see POTC reviewed in it...or maybe I missed it :confused3
My head is not attached to my body at the mo....joys of working with kids and catching their germs.

Depends on your kids. We have been taking ours on since they were 3 months old. But it is dark, has loud noises, skelletons, and two small waterfall drops. Our kids love it (now 4 and 2) but others most certainly do not. It depends on the child.

Like Lilly we were there last week and it's not updated. However, I like this one as much or more than WDW or the original in Disneyland.

I noticed just a couple of changes there last week - the swinging pirate at the beginning has disappeared completely, as has the cat on the floating box. There are some new pirates (just the heads) I haven't seen before popping up on the pirate ship to the left of the Captain. But no Capt Jack to be seen as yet!

The cat has been gone for 3 weeks, the swinger for 2 - they are taken out for refurb.

The heads on the pirate ship have been there since opening day. There are no significant changes to PotC.

ah that's a shame-it would have made sense for them to have... i wonder where the hell i read that then??? who knows!

Thanks guys oh i wish I was there or had at least been this year!!! only 150 something days to go for me...

Dave do you mind me asking what does it mean on your signature "we now own at marriot?" I'm feeling a little dense!!!

No worries. We bought a week a year (for the next 75 years) at the Marriott Vacation Club at the DLP golf course. This means we can stay in a 2 bedroom (sleeps 6) 3 bathroom house for a week a year every year for 75 years, or we can swap it and stay at any other of the 28 Marriott Vacation Clubs around the globe (including 6 near WDW and 1 near Disneyland), or the 4000 Marriott Hotels including Ritz Carlton, or Cruises, or Orient Express Holidays, or swap it in for one of 5000 other timeshare locations around the globe. If we do not like that, then we can change it for airmiles.

We fell in love. For more info see these:

I'd be interested to know where you get all this info from Dave - are you a CM on the POTC ride, or do you know one?

Nope - just been a student of all things Disney for over 30 years and know that when they remove figures, it is for refurb. We were there when both of these were removed and the cat was being refurbed in the costume area - we saw it when on the tram tour.

You will often notice IASW dolls missing (I don't think I've seen IASW in tact for about 10 years) for the same reason.

This is just a guess, so I could be very wrong but....

There was something I read a while ago on a site saying that they were added Jack to the ride, also, an advert on the back of the manual for POTC - AWE game had the pirates ride logo with jack. Could be the confirmation, or just advertising the fact that you can meet jack:confused3

Also, on my previous trip, we had unfortunately booked and found for all but the last day, pirates was shut for rehab, this was in lateish january. My guess is, that if this is about the time of a yearly maintainance check of pirates (they even drain the water), then the major rehab, with new characters, would be then, save closing the ride twice in a year, but thats just my guess, only disney really knows

Capt Jack has not been added to the ride, but he can sometimes be found in the vacinity of POTC :)
