I'm after some advice from people who have previously visited for Christmas. Do you think that it would be too busy for a 20 month old to actually enjoy themselves?

I'm after a bit of magic for Christmas as last year everyone argued that they wanted to see Kacee on Christmas day and we ended up driving round all the relatives like idiots. This year it will just be the 3 of us going.

I havent been over those dates but the week after.. and the parks are very busy!! I can imagine it would be lovely to stay there for xmas but I'm not sure how wonderful it would be with the crowds and a little one. If I'm honest if it was anything like what I experienced I wouldnt take a little child during that time, as i feel it would be too much... Have you looked at any TR for those dates..might give you an idea of what it could be like.

I would love to go for Christmas day but the crowds and busyiness scare me to be honest plus it costs a fortune.

I'd wait and see what he makes of it this time first. At that age my DD2 didn't like it at all, so I didn't bring her in August - DH stayed home too to mind her. We are bringing her now in October, but I am prepared for DH & myself to take turns going to Disney with DD1 again if she still doesn't like it. Unfortunately I have noone to leave her with! It would be a pity to go all that way & spend all that money if he doesn't appreciate the magic.

A very good point.

Just saw that we could drive by Eurotunnel and stay off site for under £250 and thought that it was really cheap!

That offer sounds so tempting! It would also be very cold. This trip we are going on in October is for my 40th which is in January, but I felt that it would be too cold then for DD2 & trying to keep hats, gloves & scarves on her permanently would be impossible! I'm not trying to put you off going, I would love to go for Christmas too, but I feel that with kids there are better times of the year to go.

we were there last Christmas from 27th-29th and it was so busy. We've been twice in the middle of summer (end July) and it was much busier than that. There were some times when you could hardly move for people and the restaurants were all heaving - we were glad we had booked table service for every day but trying to find somewhere to sit inside to get a hot drink was impossible - we had taken my Mum and at one point we were trying to find somewhere to leave her to sit and have a drink while we went on BTM with FPs but she ended up just sittng outside.

I like the idea of DLRP at Christmas but the reality sounds quite an ordeal in some ways. Would it be possible to go from 4th Jan? That way you'd get the end of the Christmas season but not the crowds.

We had the same hectic Christmas as you with all of the relatives wanting to see the children. We came up with a compromise which was this: we had a quiet family christmas day and then had the relatives over for a Boxing Day party all at once. That way, the children can go to bed when they are tired and the relatives feel a part of the celebrations.

Am thinking of a trip this year (no kids, just 2 adults) what were the wait times like for the rides?

very busy.

We made the most of EMH to do what we could and then used FP as well. We had gone really for the Christmas atmosphere and shows so werent too bothered about getting loads of rides done.
I did a trippie if you want to get a feel of what it was like - its in the usual section and is called Chante c'est Noel

Hi,

Just joined this site in hope of some useful info.

Ive booked to go DLP from xmas eve til 28th dec. Im taking me 2 children who will be 7 and 3. First trip away on my own with them.

We are staying at the Santa Fe, I have booked the basic half board option, a character meal, Mickeys holiday dinner show and the christmas buffet.

Was a bit naive when i booked all this, i believe one is on xmas eve, one xmas day and one boxing day.

WANTED to know if anyone knows what these are like, what should we expect and what sort of food is it? And what sort of entertainment is there?

Also what are the best restaurants to use?

Many thanks

Gem:)

If you have a look at our restuarant reviews that may give you an idea of where you would like to each.

It may be an idea to read some of the trip reports as some of thee Disers have visited at Christmas and this may give you a feel for what goes on :)

Have fun planning :)

We went in 2005 and Christmas Eve was very quiet, especially in the afternoon and evening. We sat on POTC three times in a row to get a perfect photo whilst we had a boat to ourselves. Christmas Day was relatively quiet too, the locals obviously stay away that day so there will only be guests who have come on holiday. Boxing Day it starts getting much busier and the 27th will be very very busy but as it's your last day, I'm sure that won't matter.

I'd say go for it at that price ~ you will have a magical time. :santa:
