I have finally saved enough points in my Disney Movie Rewards to get a free tour through Disney Studios in Burbank! We will obviously pair this with a trip to DLR. I live in TN. We will fly into John Wayne Airport I am sure and stay in Anaheim. My question : What transportation is best to go to Burbank and back from DLR? Uber? Taxi? Is there shuttle I can hire?

I don’t know of any shuttles. So you’ll probably want to hire an Uber/Lyft or Car Service.

If there’s no traffic (early AM or late PM) then it’ll be about 40 minutes on the interstate each way. Throughout the day it’ll be an hour or more, and during rush hours it’ll be 90+ minutes, so plan accordingly.

I would do a split stay
  1. Fly to Burbank Airport
  2. Rent a car
  3. Stay in a nearby hotel
  4. Visit Disney Studios
  5. While in Burbank visit Universal Studios and Warner Bros Studio Tour
  6. Drive to Anaheim
  7. Stay in hotel / motel in Anaheim for Disneyland
  8. Drive to John Wayne Airport, return the car and fly home
There are public transport options between Anaheim and Burbank, train and underground and Uber , but it would take 2 hours each way.

I do split stays, I stay in LA and use public transport to transfer to Anaheim. I can do you an exact route planner using public transport if you need it.

Technically when you look at the map, Anaheim and Burbank are about 35 miles, but like @dieumeye said the journey time can be up to 90 minutes or more depending on traffic, time of day and highway construction.

I would rent a car and drive. Depending on the time of day it could be 2+ hours there and back and I wouldn't want to sit in an Uber for that long.

If you have the option and it isn't much more expensive I agree that flying into or out of Burbank would make a lot of sense. That drive is brutal it seems like EVERY time I have done it.

Amtrak runs between Burbank and Anaheim. It is about a 90-minute trip. The cost is about $18 and there are 5 trains per day. Information is on the Amtrak website.

I would rent a car (use Alamo office at Paradise Pier if staying on property). I did this once, I picked it up at 8:30 am, returned it by 4:30. Went to offsite CoD, Imagineering, and the Studio.

Last trip I flew in and out of Long Beach, another option.

If you want to try a car service, contact Lansky's Car Service. They get very good reviews here. They also provide car seats/boosters upon request.
The suggestion to do a split stay and fly into BUR for your studio tour is a good one. You can do the WB Studio Tour, too -- that one gets very good reviews, see USH, do some Hollywood site seeing, etc. Then travel to Anaheim, do DLR, and fly out of SNA.
