DLR suites that hold 6 adults?

I’m trying to see if an on site stay is feasible for us, I keep seeing rooms at the GCH, DLH and PPH saying “sleeps 6 adults”. How does that work with kids? Do we get an infant under 3 that doesn’t count towards capacity like at WDW?

Asking because we have 5 kids, 2 will be under 3 when we travel. I’m not expecting to get both free but 1 would be nice.

I'm not sure about the cost, but they do have big suites. We had a 2 bedroom connecting suite at DLH last year that had 2 king beds and a sofa bed. They used to say "8 people" but now the description says something like, "Beds will vary depending on the size of your party."

My understanding is that they do not charge extra for kids. More than 2 adults are now an extra charge, but I don't think any kids are.

It is 2 queen beds in 1 room, and a pull out couch in the living room. Also, contrary to whats posted in many places, some of the 1 bedroom suites do not have an extra bathroom. We had this unfortunate surprise in our last visit.

They will not give you a room with a King if you have 6 people.

In terms of the 3 year old counting, the online reservation system should tell you if it's allowed or not. Enter in the kids ages and see what rooms it offers, if its not allowed it wont show as available.

What would be the best is renting a 2 bedroom DVC at GC for roughly the same price, but that wont work if your trip is within the next 7 months.

We have a 2 bedroom Junior connecting suite at DLH. It was actually cheaper than two adjoining rooms! There are two bedrooms/ two bathrooms and a living area with a pullout couch and a day bed. Plus a little breakfast bar w/ fridge.

We have a 2-bedroom Family Connecting Suites reserved at DLH next month. Supposed to sleep up to 10.
We've requested a king in both bedrooms for the adult couples, and there's a queen hideabed and day need in the common room for the youngsters. It's got 2½ baths.

I had the one bedroom family suite booked, which was supposed to have a 1.5 baths, and it didn't. Just a word of warning.

Yes, I was on the phone with a Disney travel rep and they said they have different configurations of the suites. We wanted the extra 1/2 bath but they didnt have any of those 2 bedroom family suites available for our time. The 2 bedroom connecting junior suite was about $500 cheaper for our week in December

Yep, and it seems the front desk has the ability to shift people around the category. I explicitly booked the Family Suite due to the extra 1/2 bath vs connecting rooms (due to convo with the travel reps), only to be in for a rude surprise once I got to the room. So if the 1/2 bath is important, I would recommend calling the front desk a few days before arrival and confirm that you will get a room with the extra 1/2 bath.

How far ahead of a visit do you guys call to just check in with the DLH front desk and reinforce the building, bedding and other "requests" you made at the time of booking? And does it do any good.

I haven't done it at DL, but at other hotels, I normally call the front desk 4-5 days before arrival and ask for a request to be put in for the room coordinator, and then call back 1-2 days before to confirm. Not sure if Disney operates differently, but most hotels this timeline seems to work.

That's what I was thinking. I will set calendar reminders. Thanks.
Just a heads up, if they don't have specifically what you're requesting available when you check in, you're probably out of luck. I called ahead and put a request in our original reservation for just a regular 2 queen with a sofa room (versus a king or 2 queen without a sofa) and when we got there they had no idea what I was talking about and acted like there weren't any requests on our file.

They also pretty much said they can't really make changes or verify anything about your room until you check in. Luckily, we arrived in the early morning and they were able to pull some strings and switch us with someone else who had the room we wanted and hadn't checked in yet or made any requests. Each room type and category has several different variations. I'd arrive as early as possible in the day and wouldn't check in on the mobile app. (She also said once you check in on the app your room type is locked in and can't be modified by the front desk.)

What makes me insane about all of this is that, at this price point, HOW do they get away with just “taking whatever they have” when you check in? We have this also at the GCH, and I find it absolutely insane that I can choose my specific bedding configuration at the Hyatt Place or similar, but I can’t choose it at the GCH where a 2 bedroom suite is over $2xxx/night.
