So with the 24 Hr. party this May at DLR, DW and I were thinking we had better rent a stroller for sure for that day, but then it occurred to me that my DS(8) is likely a little big (around 52 inches, and 50 lbs.) to fit. The official site only lists rental locations, not any specifications/restrictions for size of occupant, and most of the options at City Stroller Rentals seem to be designed for smaller kids. Normally I'd say let him walk, but we'll be at the park a long time, and we will likely be renting one for my DD(5) to rest her feet in anyways, any ideas about what the official ones hold or any recommendations for finding a more "hardy" option?

I have the exact same situation and was thinking the exact same thing...hope someone might be able to help :)

The Disneyland strollers are made by Baby Jogger and are quite sturdy. I saw one site saying the weight limit is 65lbs which sounds about right. One of the reasons I bought a Baby Jogger for our DD was because of the DL strollers. I figured if they were sturdy enough to survive rental duty at DL, Baby Jogger must be doing something right. The model isn't exactly the same as any of the strollers Baby Jogger sells to consumers though. So from a weight and maneuverability standpoint I think you'll be fine. The only bit I'm not too sure about is how comfortably he'll fit heightwise... My 48" DD still fits OK.

I would contact City Stroller with your questions. We just rented from them and had an amazing experience. Just from looks, it was far more comfortable for my son to be in that then the Disneyland strollers. Those look SO uncomfortable and dirty.

We actually ended up getting a Bob jogging stroller after we saw a mom resting in one herself on a previous trip!

DL strollers are sturdy -- my son fit comfortably at age 8 -- he was bigger at 8 than my daughter, who is 8 yrs, 61lbs and 52". I could still push and turn him with one hand. (We have not rented a stroller in 2 years but have rented at least 100 strollers and they were always very clean --pressure washed daily according to a CM.)

If you're looking for something lightweight that will still hold a larger child, I know our First Years Ignite stroller goes up to 50 lbs. according to directions. However, I think unofficially it might hold a bit more than that as it's really sturdy for an umbrella-style stroller. It doesn't fully recline, but it would be a place to sit and rest. I don't know if/where you can rent them, but they're not expensive and can usually be found used for less than $50.

if you are already getting one, why not get the Double one. It looks like he would fit in it, and when he isn't in it you have a place to store things. I have seen some older kids and yes even and adult in one of those things.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate this Forum and all the experience y'all are willing to share.

Just a couple cautions. If you're renting from the park, they only rent singles at Disneyland. If you're renting offsite, will you be looking at a side-by-side or a tandem? Side-by-side can be difficult to push when only one child is in it. Many doubles are also hard to push with two bigger kids in them (get set for really sore calves).

Rent a wheelchair, I think two kids should fit in the seat together.

City strollers has a POD you can rent ( we rented it last time) and it holds 2 kiddos or up to 100 lb.s My DD8 loved it!
