Anyone have a suggestion for a good book about some of the little "secrets" and interesting trivia (maybe a few hidden Mickey's too) at DLR? I looked it up on amazon and saw several but wondered if anyone here had a good one they liked.

the hidden mickey book is good. I have seen it for sale at barnes and noble

If they are still selling them, www.the-e-ticket.com has many of their back issues on CD and many in print form. They are closing the magazine permanently, so it would be good to act fast. If you are really interested in the history of the parks, as told by the people to designed and made it happen, this is the place for you.

I really like the Mouse Tales book bc it has a lot of info on the past and somewhat recent things. I have all of the books (forgot if it's 2 or 3) but I haven't even read them all! I think the CM parts of the book are interesting bc it talks about their downfalls and how guests can make it un-magical for them.

How does a CD of a magazine work? You just read each page as an image?

I think so. I imagine they converted the pages to PDF. I own every issue from #6 on, so I actually need to get the first CD to finish my collection. This thread reminded me to do so!

Do the mouse tales books have a lot of "negative" stories about DLR in them? Some of the books out there seem to want to show the bad side of DL and I really just want to read about the fun little details in the park (things to look for or interesting facts). I don't mind reading about other stuff too but I don't want to read about deaths at DL or other depressing things that may take away from the magic.

The E-ticket magazine looks interesting. The problem there is that I would want all of them and that would cost $$$. :sad1:

Mouse Tales does have some stories that could be considered negative. If you want to avoid that you might like Disneyland Detective. It's tips, stories, secrets, all very lighthearted.

Mouse Tales doesn't Disney-bash as much as a few others, but I wouldn't begin to rank it up there as being coated with Pixie Dust. It is a bit critical, as it's goal is to steer clear of the "company approved" version of the history.

If I remember correctly, Mouse Tales talks about several of the deaths at Disneyland - both castmember and guest.

I read the reviews for Disneyland Detective and many said there were spelling and grammer errors in the book. That right there ends it for me. If between the author and the editor they can't manage to get the English correct, I would wonder about other facts. On a forum is one thing, I don't expect that. I'm not perfect either. But I think when you write and publish a book, you are on a whole different level. The book sounded interesting but I know that part would drive me crazy.

This is very true and it's my one big gripe with the book. I've thought about using a red pen to mark the errors and send it back to the publisher, but thought that might be going too far :)

Otherwise, it's a fun book.

I read this in the reviews too and was trying to decide if I could ignore the errors or if it would be annoying. Sounds like a good book besides that.
