OK so we have our trip all planned and booked for November 10th-17th. This puts us there right over Veterans Day Weekend AND the rumored start of the Christmas season. So what can we expect crowd wise this weekend?? I know that the Christmas Season start is big but does it help that both So. Cali APs are blocked starting on the 11th?? I am just trying to figure out how in depth my plans really need to be as we don't do lines!!!!!(especially not with 7 children......3 of whom will be 18 mos to 25 mo olds!!!!!!!)

It's not a rumored start of the season - 11/12/10 is, indeed, the start of the holiday season this year, according to Disney Destinations. (Unless DLR suddenly changes their plans, of course.)

In addition to the November thread (which is a meet-up thread for 2010 only), I would suggest that you also join the "Disney at Christmas" thread (which is the ongoing, year-round holiday thread), as we discuss the entire season, from November - January and everything ranging from crowds to food to events to attractions, etc.

I think it is going to be quite busy that week no matter what, from Wednesday on. The fact that Veterans Day and the start of the holiday season fall in the same week means that people will probably take extended vacations that last from Veterans Day through the weekend. It may help a little that SoCal AP holders are blocked, but some of the busiest crowds at DLR (like the week between Christmas and New Year's) have nothing at all to do with SoCal AP holders. It's simply that holiday periods attract tourists and vacationers.

The starts of holiday seasons are always busy because it's a novelty. Case in point - the Halloween season just began this past Friday and reports have already come in, telling us that it was quite busy on Friday afternoon and into the weekend. Late September is usually not as bad as October in terms of crowds, but when a season starts, people come out! But it will probably quiet down this week a little bit.

Thank you. I was afraid of that. I'm starting to wish that we had just gone with Thanksgiving but then again......the flights are a lot cheaper. Oh well.......we will have a good plan and go in expecting it to be busy and I think we will still be ok. Glad I decided to rent those 3 double strollers for all of the kids!!!!

That's always the best plan - expect the worst so you're mentally prepared, and then anything less than what you imagined will seem like a great relief!! It won't be the worst possible crowds at DLR, but I think that the beginning of the season combined with Veterans Day visitors will bring out pretty healthy crowds.
