So, does any have any reveiws about any of the restaurants within the Disney hotels, other than the character meals, which we hear/read plenty of excellant reviews, and WWS, which I also hear excellant things about (it is on my list this time for sure!!:goodvibes ). I am trying to get other ideas for our lunch or dinner on the day we arrive, as we will not be entering the parks that day. Thanks!!

We have eaten at Yamabuki in the PPH and it was really good. This depends on if you like Japanese food (chicken teriyaki, sushi, etc.). We have also eaten at Hooks Point at the DLH - their food is good, but seems a bit spendy for what you get.

Why not start your trip with an afternoon or evening trip to Goofy's Kitchen? We did that the first evening we arrived last year. The kids were able to get some pics and autographs before entering the parks!

I would have said Storyteller's Cafe, but I understand they've just changed their menu, and some people haven't been happy. Steakhouse 55 at the DLH is nice, but it is pricey. Whitewater Snacks at GCH is nothing fancy, you order your grilled foods from the cashier and then sit down, or you can get a pre-made salad or sandwich from the cold section there. We like Whitewater Snacks because it seems the crowds haven't discovered it yet, and it is less expensive than other options.

I second CanyonGirl's suggestion. If you have it planned for another time, I suggest Tortilla Joe's in DTD. It's not super-expensive and has great margaritas by the pitcher!

Thanks for the replies. This is what our plan is so far, or should I say my plan, since I am the only one who likes to plan:lmao:

Hi, I can't really imagine walking from DI all the way over to Crocs Bits n Bites in the DL Hotel for lunch. It's like WWS but not as nice; cafeteria style. WWS might be nice just because it's quiet and pretty, closer, and you can explore the gorgeous GCH lobby while you're there. Or, I'd go someplace in DTD for fun, like ESPN zone, RFC, or Ralph Brennans.

That's a lot of PS's. Do you want to do sit-down table service meals two or three times a day? Keep the PS's if you make them, but you can cancel or just not show if you want. You might want to consider getting groceries for your hotel room and having simple meals there during your midday break. Doesn't DI have a continental breakfast? Or is that the one I've heard is pretty lame, like stale pastries?

Also-- you're going to be there by lunchtime on a Thursday, and not go into the parks?? That's a whole other opportunity to explore, see shows and fireworks that first day. Check the cost of adding one day to your parkhoppers-- it's like $10 per person or so? Very very worth it for another half day in the parks. If I weren't getting there till 6 or 7 p.m. I could see not going, (although I would anyway :) ) but not when you're there by noon.

Just a couple thoughts I had, reading your plans-- good luck! :thumbsup2

We are planning on getting to the resorts early for other things, that is why we are not going in the parks that day. We are going to make a trip to Company D, and possibly Mickeys of Glendale. If we do Mickeys of Glendale, then that of course would be before we get to the parks, so may not even have lunch at the resort. The PS are for back up, they are places either we want to try for the first time (Wine Country Trattoria), or places that we love and want to go to again (Carnation Cafe, for example). We may or may not keep them. We are also crazy, and do not normally take midday breaks. Outr kids usually have no problem with that, if the little one gets tired, he naps in his stroller and we sit in the shade somewhere while the other parent and kids enjoy the rides.

Brandy,

If you guys are planning on coming all the way up here to do Mickey's of Glendale, just consider grabbing a bite at one of our many wonderful Burbank eateries. (I'm never sure how that section on town came to belong to Gendale instead of Burbank...) You can PM me and I'll throw some ideas at you. If you are coming down the 5 from up north, that would make more sense than eating at the resort. There are a number of good places within a stone's throw of Corporate (the Glendale campus) and that would also give you a chance to drive over to the Studio and get your photos of the Hat building and maybe even get onto the lot and see Legends Plaza. (Good Chinese just across the street from the Alameda entrance.)

Consider also a weekend breakfast/brunch at Ralph Brennan's or even the Gospel Brunch at House of Blues. Or for a budget - take home pastries from La Brea Bakery, Main Street Bakery, or Martino's on Victory here in Burbank - about 1 mile from the Glendale campus. (Normal prices and the tea cakes are to die for.)

I miss being able to shop at Company D...... We do get excited when they open up the shop at the Studio for the neighborhood in late November/early December.
Nancy
