DLR hotel ... for 6?

I am taking my parents to DL next year (they have never been!). I was also thinking of taking my two oldest nephews (13 and 11) with us. So there would be 6 of us.

It is usually just DH and I when we go to DL. Once we went with another friend and his daughter, but that was still only 4, and we still only needed only one room. So I have never paid attention to room occupancies before.

So here's my question, which DLR hotels have room for 6 without having to get two rooms. I know there are hotels right across from DL entrance that can sleep that many in one room, but are there any at the DLR hotels? Besides the Mickey Suite of course, I want to be able to afford to eat while we are there.

We'll only be going for 3 or 4 days, then spending the rest of our time at home by the pool, so sharing a room for 2/3 nights won't be a problem. I don't want to break the bank taking everyone, but I want to give them a very memorable experience since who knows when they will be able to go again.

My other option is to go to WDW and stay in a 2br villa, and maybe bring a few more family members, but I really want to take them to DL because that's where DH grew up and was my first Disney experience. And we "know" DL. We are taking our first trip to WDW in a few days and we may end up loving it too, I just think it would be easier to do it at DL and we can drive there (once they fly to my house that is). It is saves money on flying for DH and I that we can use for tickets/rooms etc.

Any input for me? I am just in the initial planning stages, so any thoughts/ideas would be great.

We have 6 in our family and usually end up getting 2 rooms. The Orange County firecode only allows 5 in hotel rooms, unless it's a suite. Last time we went down the street and got a 2 bedroom suite at the Hyatt, it saved us hundreds of dollars. I agree, I prefer staying on property, but I had to decide last time if it was worth it to me to spend that much more, and my answer was no. Maybe one day I'll rent a suite at DLR, that would be really fun!

The hotels of the Disneyland Resort have a max. occ. or 4 in most rooms and 5 in some. If you want 6 then you are looking at a suite (not necessarily Mickey's very own) or another property.
I have stayed at DGC and DPP (and both were "magical") including a suite at DPP. The suites no longer automatically come with concierge level service so they aren't as pricey as they used to be. However, don't overlook the "value" of staying off-site. Some of the Good Neighbor hotels are even closer to the gates than the Disney hotels. It really depends on your priorities.

I knew there was a 5 person max occ now that I read that :headache:

I was thinking the suites would just be too outrageous, but we'll see.

I will stll look at staying off site. Maybe I'll get two rooms and book one on points and the other cash, or depending on what kind of plans we have for our points next year, just do two on points. That'll leave more $ for tickets, plane rides, and food :)
