DLR hotel discounts

I'm a Disney World veteran going to Disneyland (for the first time since the 90s!) in September 2017. What are the chances that there are room discounts for that time? I feel like Disney World has discounts all year around, but I have no idea how Disneyland works!

Discounts have been fewer and further between at DLR. Their occupancy rate has been consistently exceedingly high recently all year long.

I would book a room only reservation direct with Disney as soon as you have dates. Room only reservations can be cancelled up to 5 days out from arrival without penalty so if you find a better rate before then you can always rebook.

I thought I saw a banner on here advertising discounts through 9/24....

In the past there have been discounts in September. Expect something like 20% off premium view rooms only from sunday to thursday at the DLH and GC, and 10% off at the PPH. The discounts at DL are few and far between because frankly they don't need to offer any since occupancy is high.

The DLR hotels often sell out without a discount. They sometimes have offers around 10-15% on relatively short notice. For example, On March 31st I got a pin code that was good through May 25th. If you want to stay on site, book a refundable room now and if an offer comes out, you can call to have it applied. If you only want to stay on site at a certain price, book both a refundable on site room and a refundable off site room and cancel one later. Depending on when you're going in September, there may already be limited hotel availability for both on and off site.

I say good. They usually start running a late summer/early fall discount end of Aug I think. Discounts are only good Sun-Thurs nights, sometimes only on premium views, sometimes only DLH & GCH. If you know you can afford it without a discount book now so you don't lose your room in case a conference or something happens during your visit, rooms go fast all of the sudden if a conference comes in!

I think it's possible. We got a pin code for 40 percent off for April 23-25 and there is a public offer for 20 % off. You have a better shot of a discount for Sub-Thursday stays I think.

Thanks everyone! We decided to go ahead and book a room, and then if discounts come out later, that's really just a bonus!

That's your best bet if you're set on staying on Disney property. However, discounts don't happen often. And when they do, they're still way more expensive than any moderate at WDW. These are definitely Deluxe prices....but you only get Value-to-Moderate value from these resorts. In fact, I'd rather stay in ANY of the WDW moderate resorts than Paradise Pier or Disneyland Hotel. The Grand feels a lot like Wilderness Lodge, but it costs $200 more a night. And forget about any chance of a free dining discount for staying there.

Yeah, originally we were planning on staying at one of the Good Neighbor hotels. But in exchange for four nights of camping earlier in the week, we made a deal to stay at the Grand Californian as a nice treat to ourselves for the rest of our trip.
