Hi! Just popping over from the DIS Weddings Board to see if anyone has a link to info about weddings at Disneyland Paris. I've heard it's next-to-impossible for nonresidents to marry in France, but I'm really curious about what they offer (I hear they even have dresses for you to choose from).

Anyone have any info? THANKS!!

Civil and Religious ceremonies
To be legal, all marriages must be performed by a French civil authority, i.e., an "officier de l'état civil," BEFORE any religious ceremony takes place. In practice, this means the mayor ("maire") or his legally authorized replacement, such as a deputy mayor ("adjoint") or a city councilor ("conseiller municipal"), of the town in which one of the parties to be married has resided for at least forty (40) days immediately preceding the marriage. All Americans marrying in France must comply with this requirement.

Religious ceremony: A religious ceremony may be performed AFTER (never before) the civil ceremony. The minister, priest or rabbi performing the religious ceremony will require the certificate of civil marriage ("certificat de célébration civile") as proof that the civil ceremony has taken place.

Residence requirement and place of marriage

At least one of the contracting parties must have resided in France for forty (40) days continuously prior to the marriage:
The "mairie" (city hall) or town where the civil ceremony takes place is dictated by the place of residence. If both of the parties to marriage meet the residence requirement, but resided in different districts, the civil ceremony may take place in either district of residence. The 40-day residence requirement cannot be waived. Unfortunately, this precludes a wedding in Paris in those cases where both parties are only visiting for a short stay here.
Publications of banns
French law also requires the posting of marriage banns at the appropriate "mairie" no less than ten (10) days preceding the date of marriage. The first publication of the banns can be made only at the end of thirty (30) days of residence in France by one party to the marriage. Only in very exceptional cases can this requirement be waived by a French authority (the "Procureur de la République" for the district in which the marriage will take place). *Each mairie may require that the complete marriage file be presented as much as 10 or more days prior to the publication of Banns. Please contact your mairie to find out exactly what the delay is.

Frankly, I can't find anything on a google search, but in Germany at least the type of fantasy weddings not in a civil ceremony or church or other place or worship didn't occur in past. I recall my friends being confused seeing those types of lavish wedding in parks, etc on American television.

Perhaps someone else can chime in here, but I am not aware of anything wedding related at DLRP (perhaps due to French/European requirements for marriage)

We wanted to get married in DLRP in 2003 but they told us they don't offer this - the 40 day rule puts off people from outside France and people in France apparently showed little intetrest in wanting to get married at DLRP.

We did the next best thing and had our honeymoon there and had a free upgrade to the Bridal Suite of Sequoia Lodge.

Disney Paris is very strikt in no weddings ore even photo's taken in your weding dress. Its for your own safety.
If the public sees you in any kind off exepcionel long dress they think you belong to the staff ore you are a meet and greet figur.

I know of couple who changed there clothes on the toilets for there weddings clothes and went into the park to make pictures of themselves.

Looking back they said it was a frightful expierence and luckely a CM saw them and helpt them pass the people who wanted a signature.
They strongly advise other couples no to try something like this.

Yeah, I figured it was impossible. Thanks for confirming my suspicions! :thumbsup2
