DLP Info

Hi all,

My DD20 and DS17 are in DLP now for his birthday and I just wanted to let you know the feedback I'm getting from them. They're staying in the Kyriad, and apart from the very rude check in staff they are in a separate building from the main block which is open to anyone, no key needed to get in or to your floor. My two aren't used to this so this was a bit of a shock. I read online money had gone from safes in some rooms so told them not to put anything in. They left a do not disturb sign on the door yesterday but when they got back the sign was gone and the room had been serviced.

They've also witnessed the worst of Disney with people jumping queues and pushing wheelchairs out of the way. Last night a group of three girls tried to pick pocket a man at the bus queue and he punched one of them in the face. Such a shame they had to witness that.

As DD said, why can't it be like the real Disney?? We love Disney but DD thinks this is the last time she'll go to DLP.

On the plus side it's busy but they've managed to do most rides with minimal wait, apart from Crush which they're aiming for about now!

I can understand their thinking as it's never nice to see scenes of violence where ever you are and least of all on holiday

But 2 unpleasant bits of your post are not DLPs fault - The Kyriad is an off site hotel that caters to large groups and has these wings and the bus station is outside of the Disney parks control. Hotels will often enter your room when they know you are out to clean even if it says Do not disturb - Highly annoying I know.

You get a lot of pick pockets hanging around the station like you do in all train/bus stations and they do try to take advantage of the crowds to rob people - Paris has a lot of them sadly and due to their status they risk very little.

Hope they get to do Crush as it's my favourite ride and that they are enjoying the fab weather Happy birthday to your son

I'm sorry they are expierencing those issues during their stay. But DLP is also "real Disney".

Hotel Kyriad isn't "owned" by Disney, so the Disney standard may not be noticable there as you do in the Disney hotels. Maybe next time Santa Fe or Cheyenne would be a good alternative? Prices are not so very part these days most of the time. Anyhow, I would surely recommend for them to tell the staff about their issues, maybe that will do *something*.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to warn everyone about the Kyriad as we had been told it was a good hotel. I work for a coach company and we've taken groups there and no one has mentioned anything about the buildings being open access, but the apparent lack of security around the hotel in general is a worry when your kids are there and you're not.

As for the queue jumping and general lack of courtesy shown to guests, particularly disabled guests, from certain visitors I think has shocked my two. That's the part that they thought it was un-Disney like when our experience from WDW was exactly the opposite. DH is disabled and we hired a motorised scooter the last time we went to WDW so have experienced the excellent service and consideration there first hand - from both Disney staff and visitors in the parks.

Anyway, the parks are extremely busy today but they managed to do everything over the weekend so think they're having an easy day today - currently having Jedi burgers in Cafe Hyperion while watching Jedi Training on stage!
