What is the best way to go about getting the room location you prefer at DLH? We have booked a Resort/Pool View. I'd really like a room in the Dreams Tower with a view of DTD -- that's what we had last time and we loved it!

I've heard to call ahead -- but not too far in advance -- and ask for what you want. We are going in 2-1/2 weeks. When is the best time to call? Any special tips or tricks for getting what you want?

Thanks!:flower3:

I would call now. No later than next week. Ask them for the switch and they will say they cannot guarantee anything but they will make a note of it in the system. Then, on the day of your arrival, check in to DLH as EARLY as you can - even just for pre-check in - because special requests are honored on a first come, first serve basis, and since it is the peak season, you want to make sure you get there early in the morning.

Thank you!:flower3:

That's exactly what I wanted to know -- I will definitely take your advice.

Good luck! I hope you get the tower/view that you want! It can't hurt to call them soon because it IS peak season. Even if you have to call back again right before your trip to remind them, and STILL do pre-check in super early in the morning, it would still be worth it to call now. And they will say they cannot guarantee anything - they always say that, but during busier times of the year, like now, it holds true a little more than the off-peak season.

We paid the Upper Floor rate and requested a Pool View. But our flight doesn't land until 9:30 pm. Will they at least honor the Upper Floor request (esp since we paid more for it) and what do you think our chances will be that we'll get a Pool View? We're going on Aug. 9th... :woohoo:

Thanks.

I never understand how Disney manages to not be able to "guarantee" something IF the person has already paid for it. I would think that if you already gave them your money for a specific floor and view, they had darn well better give it to you and probably WILL. But it seems their standard answer to everyone is that they cannot guarantee anything. I guess they have to say that to cover their tracks just in case something does wrong. I remember, many years ago, before DLH was remodeled, they had the three towers and another area of rooms in bungalows called the Garden Villas, I think. I specifically asked for and paid them for a Garden Villas room but ended up in a tower! I told the lady at the desk that there must be some mistake, and she said special requests were honored on a first come, first serve basis! I guess we didn't show up early enough. I was so annoyed. I planned for the Villa room. I think that if a guest is willing to pay up front for a specific request, they should have that fulfilled, no ands, ifs or buts about it! I have merely asked for a room with two beds before - a simple, common request - and they always say they cannot even guarantee that!

So even though I SUSPECT your request for the view and floor will be honored if you have paid beforehand, I would still say that if there is any way you can get there before 9:30 p.m., especially on a Saturday during the peak season, do it! I don't trust those Disney folks! Most people will have checked in by the time you get there, so you are taking a big risk. I would ask someone on the phone at Reservations to tell you explicitly that because of what you have paid, you WILL be guaranteed the floor and the view you asked for, and if they cannot do that, then you kind of know what you are up against. If you cannot get there any earlier than that, then you sort of know you run the risk of possibly getting something less than what you want. But if you have no choice, all you can do is show up and cross your fingers!!! Good luck!
