DLH Room Choices - Please Help Me Choose a Room

My family is headed to DLR in September, as my husband has a conference at the DLH. We have a choice of three different rooms at the conference rate, but when I called the main reservation number, they could not tell me much about the different room choices. The three choices are:

(1) Standard Guest Room
(2) Downtown Disney View (Dreams Tower, Upper Level) for $45.00 more a night than choice # 1
(3) Pool View (Dreams Tower) w/ Concierge for $125 more a night than choice # 1, $80 more than choice # 2

For those of you who have stayed at the DLH, does a standard guest room mean just any room available on property (so it would likely be an older room that has not been renovated)?

Also, for those of you who have stayed in a Downtown Disney View room, is there a lot of noise in the evening from Downtown Disney? We will have our 3 year old son, who will likely be on "Central" time, at least for the first part of the trip, so I think we may have some earlier evenings. I did not know whether the noise from Downtown Disney would keep us all up at night.

Finally, would anyone recommend the concierge, for the price difference, for a family of 3? I searched and read a few threads on the concierge service, and I did not think we would get our money's worth, but I may be wrong.

Thank you all in advance for any information that you may be able to provide!

It would most likely be the old rooms. The renovated rooms are called preferred rooms.

I personally do not see any point in paying more for a view. If concierge is something you like, it is pricier but then you get the concierge lounge with all the snacks and such all day long.

Since you already do not think concierge is worth it, I would just stick with the reg. room and use the savings from not upgrading the room to go towards food and tickets.

Thank you jlwhitney for your reply! Do you or does anyone else know if the standard rooms have double beds while the Dreams Tower rooms have queen beds? I think I read on this forum that there is a difference, and the convention reservation website refers to queen beds, but only for the Dreams Tower rooms. I told my husband there might be a difference, and he immediately thought we should pay extra for queen beds. Thanks again for any additional information or ideas!

I *think* the standard rooms are below floor 7. We've stayed in a Dream Tower, downtown disney view room, upper level twice and it was awesome. What we liked about it, was with younger kids, they could watch the fireworks from our room in their pj's and still hear the music (through the tv). On our first visit, a few nights there was a performer on the stage between the hotel and the monorail and you could hear the bass of the music. But, with tired kids they fell asleep to it. For us, the view outweighed any sounds we heard from the street.

It depends when you are going...

I think 45 more a night is worth being in those buildings and have a new room...!

The downtown Disney view is fantastic. Being able to see fireworks from your room is really a great perk. I would upgrade the view, and then you'll be in Dreams tower and guaranteed to not be in the tower currently under construction.

By September the room rennovations should be done, so you will get a new room. Pool view will still overlook construction, but I'm not sure how much some noise from DTD will bother you if you want the view and confirmation that you will be in the Dreams tower.
