This is our first trip to DLR and we'll be staying at the DLH and I just wanted to make sure they have a laundry room and do they have many washers and dryers.
I'm waiting for DH to get back to my by IM, but while I'm waiting for the $$ (he's the one who went to the laundry room, nice boy) I'll share a tidbit with you.
While there, a lady who had used the machines before was there, and she advised that he split one washer load up into two dryers. That the dryers are a bit weak, and that while the cost might be the same using one dryer for longer, it saves time to just use two dryers up front.
He brought a book, others did too.
Know that all the hotels can use the laundry room, so there might be a crowd.
If I recall correctly (I used it in November) it was a buck to wash and a buck to dry. Soap and such was also a buck a piece.
The facilities worked great. We had a little car seat flood as we pulled into the PPH parking lot, so I had to wash DD clothes and the seat cover. Ooops!
I think I remember there being 5 washers & 6 dryers. The dryers seemed to work fine for me. They were back by the workout room. There was also a change machine & 2 laundry vending machine type things.
I always split up the loads between a few dryers as it does dry them faster. At least at WDW the heat on high is not like the high I have here at home so they definitely don't run as hot so splitting them up may cost a little bit more but definitely faster in time.
Wow! Only a buck for each machine? That is really cheap
Because I am a nerd who cannot leave laundry behind and I have seen this question posted before I took some pics of the DLH laundry room!
I just used that room again two weeks ago, its definitely a $1 to wash and dry. I used it several times over our six night stay in January and even more often in June for our nine night stay. I have never had a hard time getting a washer. Its so tucked away back by the Cove Pool few people know its there. The GCH has a laundry room but PP doesn't so I can see it getting crowded at times but I have been lucky. Its really easy to do a load while you swim or have a bit at Crocs Bits n Bites which is right near there.
And I also think there are five washers and six dryers. When I was there in June the dryers were slow, this time they dried my clothes really fast, so be careful if you have something that shrinks!
Thanks for the pic! Now once I get there I just have to see where the Cove Pool is. Is there a sign telling you where the laundry room is? It's my first visit so I don't know where anything is.
We had to wash clothes there during our last trip. I brought my own laundry detergent. I bought a travel sized Tide at Target beforehand, and was glad I did. I paid the same for that little bottle (you can wash a few loads w/ it) as I would to buy a single detergent there. It was just right.
I went over to that little bar area to get a snack while waiting. It was disappointing though. There was a young crowd (barely 21 by the looks of them) partying there. They were super loud and obnoxious. It was like a miniature meat market in the midst of the DL resort. My mom and I had difficulty getting anyone to help us just to get some nachos and a Coke.
The Cove Pool is back behind the Neverland Pool, there is the coffee shop and Goofy's just walk past that, hang a right and you cannot miss it. The laundry room is right next to the Athletic Club, sort of tucked at the rear of the resort. There are signs around and lots of employees that can direct you!
