Hi! Arriving on a Thursday September 28th, how early can we check in and drop off our luggage? I know our room won't be ready. I really want to line up for rope drop at DL for EEM. I am thinking the extra hours will start at 8 am. Can we check in before 7 am? Thanks!

You can show up and store your bags as early as you like, one time at the GC I showed up checked in and got my room at 4am ...that was a one off though..DLH I've dropped off the bags and waited for a text that the room was ready.

Oh that's good to know! So technically I could drop them off around 6am and check in, then hit up the Coffee Shop? Then head towards the parks to line up? Is there a Security point throughout DTD that will hold us back?

I haven't stayed at the DLH since they pushed back security, but I know there is a check point you have to go through when leaving the DLH and entering DTD.

But yes you should not have a problem doing that.

Starbucks opens around 5am in DTD. So the security entrances are open then too.

The security checkpoint is just prior to entering DTD from DLH. It's near Earl of Sandwich.

4am? Wow! We once showed up at the DLH at 6 am and our room was ready.

You can show up as early as you want. Get your hotel keys for early entry and if it's not ready they'll text you when it is and store your luggage.

It might have been earlier (wife says 3am), it was so early they asked us to hang out in the lobby and wait for the hour to change so their system would allow the check in since I guess the next day in their system doesn't start at midnight but early early morning.

We were actually going to pay for an extra night but the awesome CM asked us if we would like to make $600 in less than an hour :-)

Are you allowed to use the pools if you arrive before your room is ready?

Yes. You get full resort privileges for all of both check in and check out days even though you may not yet have access to your physical room or have checked out of the room on departure day.

You are not limited to only check in and check out times...they want you to stay on site and spend your money!

Yay, awesome!

During our last stay at the Paradise Pier (2012 August, concierge level), we made a move from the Howard Johnson to the PP. My wife and I got up at 7am, let our daughters sleep at the HJ, and we carried our luggage over to the PP, arriving around 7:30am. The room wasn't ready, but we received our keys, and the front desk encouraged us to head up to the lounge for breakfast. This worked out very well for us: we went back to the HJ, got the kids up, checked out of the hotel, went to the PP lounge for breakfast, stocked up on drinks and snacks, and then went to the park.

Had we been early enough, I'm sure we could have also taken advantage of Magic Morning at Disneyland.

I was going to mention this as well! One of the perks of staying concierge is that you can check in early and while your room may not be ready, you get to enjoy breakfast/food/beverages in the meantime! They have also let us go in after check-out time on the day we leave and get snacks for the airport.

Just left the Disneyland Hotel today. Security at the DLH end (Earl of Sandwich/ESPN Zone) was a BREEZE at all times of the day. My brother was waking up daily at 5 and going to the Starbucks west location (by the AMC), and said that security wasn't running on his way in but they'd be getting set up on his way back.

Good ideas here! Thank you everyone! So once I check in and drop bags off, assuming that our room isn't ready- how do we visit the pool in the afternoon? Can we request one of our bags at the desk to change into our suits? Is there a changing room near the pool area?

Also, if we showed up early enough to bypass the security line and we managed to get through to line up at DL will be asked to re-exit the line and redo security and loose our spot?

I second this. We just spent 5 days at DLH. There was no wait for security in the morning for rope drop.

There was also no wait any other time of day we went through security, either.

I was pleasantly surprised because this had been a worry of mine.
