In case anyone has been wondering, I heard that DLR will be releasing more hotel rooms for the actual 50th Anniversary celebration on August 1. Originally Walt Disney Travel Co. released limited rooms for the 3-night online package and they were surprised at how quickly the rooms sold. As of 7/29, the resort was "sold out" for the enitire anniversary period in mid-July of '05.
But again, they only released limited rooms. They wanted to keep plenty of rooms on the property available for vacationing guests who aren't necessarily planning on being there because of the birthday on July 17. I for one feel sorry for those people, because they are in for gridlock. Early estimates that I have heard is that as many as 138,000 people will try to visit Disneyland on July 17.
With the release of rooms on August 1, WDTC is also supposed to start taking reservations for the rest of 2005. I believe this might also include the "good neighbor" hotels. It's also possible that there will be more DLR rooms available in packages sometime during the first week of August.
