DL visit in Nov?

We have a trip booked to San Diego for the first week in November and we had planned on taking a day trip to DL. I have been doing research and have found disappointing news. With no Fantasmic, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Space Mountain, Small World (my childhood favorite) and the castle all covered up .. well, we are having second thoughts.

I have not been to DL since I was 9 yo and DD23 has never been. We go to WDW once or twice a year. I do want to go .. but .. it is like half is missing. It kills us that the castle is all covered up. That is what has really put the doubts in our minds.

We will be in San Diego for a week and are planning to go to Sea World, the Zoo, all the usual. We can't decide if we should go to DL or not. There will certainly be plenty to do in SD if we don't go.

Thoughts anyone??

Honestly, I would say just to wait and plan to go to DL next year or sometime in the future. If it's your first time in quite awhile, I would just wait to see the park at it's best.

My personal opinion- Its Disneyland! its always worth it

But I am a more often visitor and don't mind things being broken because I know I'll be back soon. But if it was more of a once every few years thing then it becomes a decision that you have to make whether that many rehabed things would ruin a trip.

Space hasnt been open for the oh last 4 trips Ive had and it just makes me more excited for next May/July (don't know if Ill go in May) to ride it again- Small World isnt my fav so I wouldnt miss it. F! is wonderful but also walking around NOS at night with the Twain running the river is wonderful its a peaceful way to end the night esp in Nov with a cup of hot chocolate, I like Matterhorn but never ride it much because of the lines (that and with its yearly rehabs its often closed)

There is still much to be seen and experianced there and I look at the castle as the same as the infamous candy one of wdw. Its a definent way to know when you were there...Your pictures are already dated...

But the decision has to be yours. If an experiance in Tarpland isnt something you'd be able to look past to experiance DL then Id wait and curse Harris and Pressler under your breath because if they'd spent the cash to paint it wouldnt be the tarpland it is today and come back next year when its all neat and pretty

I would vote for going, as well. Even with all the refurbishments if you haven't been for a while it is so worth a trip. We do WDW a couple of times a year also but they have done such a great job on DL you should check it out.

I am going to prove how old I am and say it was in 1966 when I was at DL. Now that we own DVC and another timeshare we can trade for weeks on the west coast and can visit more often. It is a real possibility that we could go in a year or two.

We can live without the rides that are down. Indian Jones is open and that is suppose to be so cool. We have seen Fantasmic at WDW and enjoyed it alot and can see it in Dec. We enjoy just walking around the parks and people watching at WDW. It is a tough decision. But, there is no reason to make it now. I will just sleep on it for awhile.

We may just hang by the pool at the Four Seasons and be waited on by the pool boys! :

Remember that there is another whole park to explore as well ! With the new 1 day hopper you can easily spend time in both parks and have a great day.

Oh, I didn't see that pass on the DL site. That's really interesting, and makes a big difference. Do you know how much the passes are?

They are 69 for an Adult Ticket. A bit more than a one day one park but if you do a Commando day you could see the highlights

Yeah, if you can visit again later, I would recommend going now while you're there if you're up to it.
