Our flights have been booked for months, however United Airlines just did a schedule change to our flight for us, so we were able to choose another flight at no additional fee. Flight times were not good out of SNA on our original departure day of Oct 4th, so we booked a flight on Oct 5th (Sun) instead, giving us an extra day at DLR! SO now my question is since we have an extra day, i'm trying to decide if the trick or treat party is worth it to buy tickets for? We have DD3 and DS5. Would you spend the extra money to go or not? I really know nothing about it. Any opinions from those of you who have gone?

It sounds like you will be there at the same time I will be - I am staying at PPH from 10/3 - 10/5. Actually, I am pondering the same thing. The Trick or Treat party that weekend is on Friday the 3rd, I think, and I was debating on whether or not it would be worth it to get tickets just to see the extra little Halloween things in there (and score some candy!). I am tempted but I don't know for sure.

Can I ask you - are you staying at one of the three Disney hotels? You would have had to add a night onto your hotel stay to allow for the extra day. I ask because I know the hotels have booked up for those fall weekends already, apparently, but I was CONSIDERING asking the PPH people if there is availability on Thursday night, October 2, to just add another night onto the beginning of my stay. I almost kind of wish PPH would say "No, that Thursday night is all booked," so that I am not tempted to spend any extra money. However, there are a few practical reasons why it might be better to get down there on Thursday night, one of them being so we can be fresh and awake early on Friday morning to eat and tackle the Toy Story line!

Hi Sherry!
We will be there late on Sept 30th, and leaving Oct 5th. We are staying at the Fairfield Inn actually. I was worried about getting the extra night added on even there, but it wasn't a problem. I just called today and there was still availability. Like you I'm not sure if the Trick or Treat party is worth it or not???! Hmmm, what to do??? I wasn't planning on it before because that was our only weekend night for the parades/fireworks, etc, but now that we will have a Saturday night also, i'm trying to decide about the trick or treat party.

It is kind of tricky for me. I assume you have Park Hoppers for the duration of your stay, so to get the TOT Party would be an extra expense that would really just allow four extra hours in DCA at night. Everyone says it is really cool, and I would like to see it, but I don't know if it is worth it. My friend(s) tend to poop out pretty early anyway, so even if I got tickets to the party, chances are we would only be there for two hours at most! Plus, what I am doing is taking my current 1-day/1-park tickets and upgrading them to 2-day Hoppers (to cover Friday and Saturday) when we get down there, and the ultimate price of that would be cheaper than if I bought one-day Park Hoppers (for Saturday) and 2 TOT Party tickets for Friday night. It would have to REALLY be worth it. Hmmm....Something to ponder! I like souvenirs, so if I could get an extra useless knick-knack instead of the TOT tickets, I might be satisfied!

As for extending the hotel stay... Normally, I wouldn't have been too worried about everything booking up two months in advance. I first made my PPH reservation almost three weeks ago, and would not have expected early October to be booked. But the weekend I wanted was already booked and unavailable, so I had to take the 10/3 weekend. Now, everything is booked up at the PPH and the DLH for every weekend. So I wonder if I DO decide to try to add on a Thursday night, if there will be any availability. Not a lot of people arrive on Thursday nights when school is in season, so I may be in luck, but I am almost afraid to call and ask! It would be an advantage to get there the night before in many ways, but a detriment to my wallet!

It appears your extra night is going to be Sat. I would not do the Trick or Treat at DCA that night for sure as Disneyland does stay open late that night. If there was a day that Disneyland will close at 8pm and you could do the Trick or treat then I might think about it. I think your kids are at a good age to enjoy this event. If you are an AP or disney rewards Credit card member you may still be able to get discounted tickets. Saves about 15 dollars each ticket. As a mom you know it is all about how well the kids are going to do on the trip --- Hve fun no matter what you choose.

The Haloween party is fun! I am actually taking my dad in a wheelchair who has had a stroke. So it should be interesting.. Also just figured out it was the beginning of Gay Days. So I am not thrilled about that. Hope that there are not any obnoxious costumes or anything. As I will have my kids with me. my Ds 6.5 can also read all the slogans on some of the shirts.. We went last year on that weekend not knowing.

Oh, I will be there 10/3 - 10/5, which I guess, is the beginning of Gay Days. I found that out after making my reservation. I have only heard about it, but have not witnessed it myself. Is it wild? I don't mind wild and rowdy and crazy costumes (because I won't have kids with me) but I mind really, really bad crowds. Lord, I hope the crowds are not that really thick kind where you feel suffocated!

I hope you and your dad and kids will have a great time!

enjoy the party i think it will be well worth it friday oct 10th
