Southern California DL to Newport Beach

If we rent a car from Downtown Disney, how far is the drive to Newport Beach? Also, how bad is the drive (traffic, freeways, etc.)

It's about 15 miles. You can take surface streets (Harbor Blvd) all the way or you can take the I-5 to the I-55.

The traffic can be crazy but it's not a bad drive.

It's an easy drive and pretty much all highway. You could take Harbor but that's alot of stop lights. Are you heading down to see the Pacific Ocean? Anything else you plan on doing?

We did it 2 years ago, easy drive! Parking in Newport can be difficult though, go early in the morning and my suggestion would be to park near Newport pier if you can or you could be walking for miles like we did! Although a beautiful walk along the beach, it is very deceiving how long the boardwalk truly is! We were worried about finding a parking spot so grabbed the nearest one and ended up walking MILES to the Newport Pier and to Balboa pier to go over to Balboa island. Then, unfourtunately, we had to walk BACK, with very sore feet It is beautiful though!!
