Ok so I am having a bit of a panic attack! We originally planned on going to Disneyland Oct 4-8th so when I bought our tickets on orbitz back in February that is the date I used....We have since changed our plans and our trip is booked for Oct 10-14th in California... I know normally it doesn't matter when you use DL tickets. But I am reading online that for Orbitz tickets it can be date specific....

Am I screwed on these tickets basically :scared:

You may be ok. I think it's more a problem if you go sooner than planned- they would probably not be in the system yet a week or so before. Going after the dates means they may still be in the system- but I would definitely call Orbitz and let them know the dates changed!

I also think you'll be fine. I have asked CMs at the ticket booths before when I tried to redeem my son's June voucher early and they said that it wasn't yet in their system so I asked what happened if we came after the dates on the voucher and they said that it stays in their system for awhile, he just couldn't tell me for how long. The CMs will make it work for you I'm sure.
You can try calling Orbitz, but I don't know how far you will get with them. I think they outsource their call center because I've called before and they seem to be reading off a script and have heavy accents. They also don't seem to understand that these are theme park tickets that you don't buy for entry on a specific day vs. a concert or dinner that may only be offered on a specific date. I have had the CMs call on my behalf when they couldn't find our voucher in their system. It took some time but they did get it straightened out. You are only moving your dates by a few days so I'm sure it will work out for you. Good luck!

Yeah I am on the phone right now and they are telling me it won't be valid after those dates.....

I'm giving some push back. He is calling Disneyland now. I cannot imagine that Disney would make this is an issue. They generally go above and beyond.

They are stating that Disney told them it would be up to Orbitz and he is stating he cannot change it...I am going to lose my mind! I do not want to spend $900 on Disneyland tickets...

It's crazy this has been a 40 minute call and I have spent most of it on hold...

Ugh, I am so sorry this is happening. I know that company can be frustrating to deal with. After the fiasco we had in March with my mom's tickets (that was Cheaptickets, but same company as Orbitz), I have vowed not to buy tickets with them again. I know this doesn't help you now :(
I still think that Disney would honor them if you brought them to the ticket booths. Maybe someone else will chime in with their experience.

They are a real pain. We bought tickets, and moved our dates to a month early, so I spent a lot of time chatting with Orbitz. They told me (and I printed it out) that it would not be a problem, that Disneyland has our tickets in system. We arrive Friday- we shall see!

That's insane...they're full of crap, they could easily change the dates, especially since Disney deferred to them. Did you ask to speak to someone higher up at Orbitz?

I bought tickets on GetAwayToday last year in July for my in-laws (my family has APs); did not know about the specific dates issue, and we weren't going until September.
When we arrived at DLH, they didn't have it in the system....but a quick call to GetAway and everything was changed/sorted out and we got our tickets.

I would bet my APs that if you get to DL with the voucher, the CM's will honor it...ESPECIALLY since it's only a few days later.

I did escalate to a manager (who repeated the process)...apparently she is sending an email to Disney and is going to email me within 48 hours...it would be easier for them to just add a few days on so they are valid when i go...
I feel like Disney would honor it but I want to be sure. I am trying to find a way to contact someone from Disney (other than the call center) who could verify.

I've asked in the past to be connected to someone in the ticket booths and they would not transfer me. It's frustrating because those are the front line people who have seen these vouchers before and would know what to do!

I have first hand experience with this situation. I bought tickets for a week in July. We ended up going a week earlier than planned, so I showed up at the ticket booth at 1pm with my voucher in hand. The CM told me the tickets were not yet in the system and to call Orbitz. I left the window, called Orbitz, who said (after checking with supervisors) that Orbitz could not change the dates, but Disney could and that I had to deal with Disney. So I went back to the same CM, who told me that Orbitz was wrong. Disney cannot change the dates unless Orbitz does it for them. If it's not in Disney's system, they have to get Orbitz to change the dates. Luckily, the CM and her lead were fabulous! They spent over 45 minutes on the phone with Orbitz (being transferred and put on hold endlessly). Finally around 3pm, I received my tickets. It was stressful and frustrating, but in the end we got our tickets, and the CM gave us complimentary FP for our inconvenience! I cried when they offered the FP's because they were the ones who bent over backwards for my error in dates.

If you go later than your dates, you will probably be ok, as at least the tickets will have been released by Orbitz. I also do not know how long they will be in the system. It's a matter of whether or not Disney can still see the tickets and know if they were redeemed or not.

If you go before your dates, be prepared for a lot of hassle. Do not believe anything Orbitz says, good or bad. Disney will have to contact them and get them to release the tickets. I have not read any situations of anyone being able to get Orbitz to release them early without Disney intervening. Do not plan to get your tickets in only a few minutes. Plan to be at the booth for a while, and if you get them quickly, all the better.

This can be resolved, and I haven't read of anyone having to buy new tickets, but I have read (and experienced) a lot of hassle with Orbitz tickets. I doubt I will use them again, even with a monetary savings, unless I am 150% sure my dates are correct.

I'm afraid to buy tickets from anyone other than Disney, tbh.

I'm not being judgey in asking this, but why do people sometimes buy tickets several months in advance? I don't like buying my park tickets until a month or less out in case my plans change.

Because many of us are traveling from long distances and are buying airplane tickets at the same time. Usually you book early for airfares to get the best deal. Plus, buying airfare is often a make or break decision. Once you buy airplane tickets, it is very hard and costly to change dates.

That, plus Orbitz has had deals of buy three days get the fourth free for only limited times. So when you see a deal, and you think you know your dates, you take advantage of it before it goes away.

I get the airfare thing, no doubt. In relation to that, I've also had family members have to change flights, too (for a legit injury), and the airlines were able to apply a credit and they used that money on tickets another time, so it's not impossible to change airfare.

I don't like to have my tickets sitting around to get stolen or lost for long before my trip, either, I guess.

I just don't like 3rd party sellers, tbh. It's totally a customer service thing with me. If something goes wrong, I don't want to spend hours trying to rectify it if I can prevent it. I know Disney is capable of mistakes, too, but generally they're pretty good at making things right when they go awry.

I'm a planner and I always book anything I can well in advance. I prefer to just get my trip booked and paid. If it is booked and paid when I have the money it is done and I no longer have to worry about it. The main reason I bought my tickets so early was because there was going to be a price increase shortly after so we saved money by purchasing them early.

I bought our tickets in Feb for March and June trips because I wanted to get them before Disney increased the ticket prices. Also, Orbitz and Cheaptickets have been known to offer pretty substantial rebates on Ebates. A few years ago I received a 20% rebate on my ticket and a lot of times they offer 5-6% cash back. Multiply that for a family of 4 or 5 and the savings can add up.
That said, with all the hassle of the dates and exchanging vouchers I don't think I will go this route in the future.

Ebates was our reason for using Orbitz as well.
