DL ticket question

We have 5x 5 day park hopper with maxpass tickets for our family that we purchased for a 2020 trip that had to be cancelled (DL was closed). We have a new trip planned in July of this year (2022) and I’m wondering how to apply these tickets to our current trip. I know that Maxpass is a thing of the past. I’ve tried calling the ticket line on multiple occasions and have experienced hold times of well over an hour and gave up and hung up. Does anybody know what will happen when our park pass reservation booking window opens? Will we be able to make reservations with this ticket type even though Maxpass doesn’t exist anymore? Or do we need to convert them to current ticket types over the phone ahead of time? Our park pass reservation booking window opens in a couple of weeks. TIA.

I don't know what will happen with your tickets, but I can give advice on calling the ticket line - call right at 7am PST on a weekday. I've done that twice recently and had very short waits both times.

Typically, if your tickets have expired, they are no longer valid for park entry or making reservations. They will give you the value of the tickets towards the purchase of new tickets. However, my understanding is they will only do this at the ticket booth, which means unless you're local, there is no way to be able to book park reservations ahead of time, because you cannot get new tickets ahead of your visit. I'm hoping there is a way around this, but someone else had the same problem and there was no option aside from doing it in person.

If they were Canadian Resident Tickets they were extended till this December and will work. I think you just lose the maxpass (or might be able to get credit at the ticket booth). If they are not Canadian I don't know if there is a good option. Sorry

Are they in your account now? I’d try making a fake reservation within an available window to see if you can make one. Then you’ll go to the ticket booth to upgrade to a new ticket before your park days.

If you can’t make a reservation you’ll have to talk to someone. They’ll have you buy new tickets while on the phone with them. Then they will reimburse your old tickets.

UPDATE: I spoke with a very helpful cast member on the phone today and was told there are two options for those holding expired tickets. Option one is to upgrade them at the Disneyland ticket booth. Option two is to purchase new tickets that are of equal or greater value to your existing expired tickets. Then Disney will refund your original ticket price to your original payment method. I was able to purchase a new set of tickets and once I provided my order number to the cast member they were able to give me a refund on my original expired tickets. I hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation. I was very frustrated earlier today because on the Disneyland chat feature I was told by that cast member that my only option was to upgrade them in person at the DL ticket booth. That wasn’t an option for me since I live in ND. When I asked to chat with her supervisor, she said I would have to call the Disneyland phone number. Once I did, the first person that answered the phone was able to help me with my issue.

That is great that you reached somebody and can do the refund exchange of tickets without physically going to the ticket booth.

I think, however, this only applies if you bought your original expired tickets directly from Disney. If you bought originally from a 3rd party site, you still need to exchange in person (which was my case).

This is what has been reported on this site for tickets purchased through Disneyland. My tickets were purchased offsite and I re-purchased my tickets and I’ll deal with it at the ticket booth and try to get a gift card or something.
