DL Stroller Questions: Park Hopping, DTD & More

I'm really hoping NOT to have to rent a stroller while we are at DL. I have always carried my littlest DD in a baby carrier if needed, so I'm hoping we can get by w/out having to rent one, but w/the hot summer heat during our visit (last week in June), I'm just planning ahead in case it really become too hot to wear her all day & that there may be the need for one. If so, I had a couple quick questions & was hoping you all could help: :goodvibes

(1) If we are planning on going back & forth between CA Adventure & DL, do we take the same stroller back & forth?

(2) If the stroller can park-hop, does that mean the stroller can actually go thru DTD as well? (How do they know you aren't leaving the main entrance of DL to just go across to CA Advent & not DTD, or your hotel for that matter, ya know?)

(3) If we plan on leaving the park & returning to the hotel room for a nap or afternoon break (we're staying onsite at CA Grand) do we have to return the stroller before we leave the park & pay for a new one when we go back again?

(4) If we have a stroller in the park & want to take the monorail back to the hotel, does it prohibit us from doing so because we have a rental stroller?

(5) How likely is it that stroller will be "rented-out" by late afternoon during the last week in June (assuming that it'll be very crowded).

TIA all

Okay I'll try my best! No the strollers CAN NOT go to DTD. They will stop you at the security checkpoint and there is no way to leave the esplanade without going through it!

Yes you have to return the stroller (well I guess you could just leave it) and then if it's the same day, you just show your ticket and get a new one. But this means no stroller to/from the hotel and since we load up with waters/juice boxes and snacks at our room, it is so much easier to bring our own!

You have to fold up strollers (any) to get on the monorail, they cannot be wheeled on like at WDW. No you cannot take it out of the park on the monorail! You must park it and leave it!

I take my own because I do not like to wait in one more line for a stroller when my babies are much happier in there comfortable ones (not to mention mine has lots of storage!!) Also my kids like to recline and lay back which the DL ones do not! But it's really a matter of preference. I don't know that they've ever run out, maybe someone else can help with that!

Just wanted to add if you have a disney visa they were running a promotion for a while that you got a free stroller rental at DL with your visa, I don't know if it is still being offered though.

The Disney Visa free stroller rental is still on. I'm not sure for how long though, possibly April 26th? Someone will post, I'm sure!

You also cannot park hop with the strollers. They need to be returned and re-checked out at each location.

You pay for the stroller once a day. You just show your receipt each time you want to rent it or if you can't find it in the park.

They have places to rent at the front of both Disneyland and CA as well as in tomorrowland there is a rental facility.

You can park hop with strollers, just can't go out of the security checkpoint, which means no hotel or DTD.

I've worn my littles in carriers all through DL, but always had my own stroller for all the STUFF. More often than not I've been seen wearing a kid and pushing an empty stroller.

How old is the DD you'd be wearing?

Thank you Andrea! So much good information in your post!

No Disney Visa here, so I guess it doesn't matter, but we'll be going the last week of June. :goodvibes

Yes, I know how that is  Our stroller is more of a "bag carrier" than a "baby carrier". I've carried DD from birth in various slings, so she doesn't even really care to ride in a stroller for more than 5 minutes usually, so my fear is that I'll be stuck pushing this stroller around that is just taking up space & slowing us down.

We have an older DD who is almost 7 :cheer2: and our little DD who likes to be worn is 20 months. princess:

What I do in those cases is we have the stroller to hold our stuff - Waters/snacks/diapers etc. and we have it for DTD and to/from the hotel, but when we get in the park, we usually will park the stroller say in Fantasyland and do all of Fantasyland without ever going back to it till we move on!!

That way we aren't always pushing it through the worst of crowds, it doesn't really slow us down, but yet we have it when we need it!!

This has changed recently. You CAN park hop. There is a security checkpoint between the entrance plaza (shared by both parks) and DTD. You can't take the stroller past the security area.

Since the receipt gets you a replacement stroller if it's lost, I can't see why it won't work the way you want.

Little tip - if you rent a stroller, bring a bright scarf to tie on the handle. Those strollers all look the same!
