DL PhotoPass...how does it work?

I'm familiar with the WDW PhotoPass system, which begins the moment your picture is taken and magicband is scanned. How does this work at DL? I've purchased my tickets with MaxPass already, scanned into DL app, what's next after I arrive at the park and take a picture with a photographer? Do I need to do anything or give a ticket number or???

It's pretty much the same for PhotoPass photographers, but ride photos will not be automatically picked up. You will need the number from the photo after the ride to enter manually into the PhotoPass site. Most people snap a pic of it on their phones (just the number) and enter them later.

For the PhotoPass photographers, you can either have them scan the PhotoPass QR code in your account or have them scan a PhotoPass card (also had a QR code) and link this to your app. I use my AP, but it functions the same as the PhotoPass card as it has my PhotoPass QR code on it. I would link this card to your account (if using one) immediately and take a photo of the card so you have a record of the QR code. Cover all bases.

Like said above, for rides most just snap a picture of the code on their picture and then enter it in later. It helps keep things moving so others can get in and get their codes too.

If you don't see your photo pop up (or anything is missing later), keep track of around what time/what your were wearing when you took a photo/ride a ride and CMs at the PhotoPass shops in either park can help you locate a photo (at the rides, sometimes there's someone working who can do this immediately there if you missed catching the number for your ride). I've very rarely had a picture missing, though. Like maybe once in the last six years.

For character dining, you have to mention you have MP/PhotoPass. They will confirm it and then give you the digital code for your photo on a piece of paper (take a photo of this in case you lose it) to add to your account. It used to be more troublesome (several dining CMs not knowing one didn't have to buy the photo package to get the digital code if one had PhotoPass), but my last experience was fairly easy/low-key/they had it down to a science. No issue. Should in theory still be like this as MP has been around 2.5 years now.

Photos can take up to 24 hours to show up, FYI.

If you see PP CMs standing around, ask them to take your photo. At DLR, PP CMs aren't allowed to ask you if they can take your photo (weird rule), so you have to make the first move. We've gotten some great photos this way, so don't be shy about asking. It may look like there aren't many photographers around, but they are out there! Just start looking...

This! When we were there last year we did this, as well as asking each one if they had any magic shots they could do. We ended up with some great photos. Most of the time, by the time we were done taking pictures there was a line of other people waiting.

Great tips guys!

We did have photos missing, but the CMs at the photo shop in DCA were fabulous and found them for us. At Minnie & Friends, we got our photo taken at the beginning and everything was the same as usual with the QR code. There was no code written on paper. That was Nov 2018. Inside the Plaza Inn there were no photo pass photographers, those character interactions were all caught on our cell phones.

TIP: If you get a PP card from the photographer, take a photo of the back with a clear image of all the pertinent information. We found someone's PP card tonight right next to a M&G with Pluto. People said it had been on the ground for some time. No one knew who had dropped it. We turned it in to Lost & Found, just in case the owner thought to look for it, but having a photo of the card would save a lot of trouble in this case.
