We may have the opportunity to travel to DLP next summer just for a couple of days prior to a cruise!! Have any of you stayed there on points? I started looking at the threads on DLP but was wondering about it from the DVC perspective. Any pointers?

We stayed at DLRP on cash in May 2007, and had a great time. The next time we go, we're using our points.

We might have considered staying on points, except that they now require you to buy park passes for the length of your stay (minimum 2 nights). Previously the passes were included (and the points were higher), but now you have to buy them. In fact, even if you're booking for cash, you have to buy park passes. For us, with CMs in the family (free park admission), it wasn't worth it.

We actually booked first at the Marriott nearby for our trip last May, but ended up buying some Euro Disney stock so that we could join the shareholders' club, and book discounted rooms without having to buy passes. Even with the cost of the stock we saved about $1200! :thumbsup2

My wife and a exchange student from Belgium stayed at DLP newyork last november. Last year you did get tickets with the bookings and had to be at least two night. They loved the place and the easy walk to the parks. They had continental breakfast in am that worked out great. I believe at that time it was about 105 pts.

Go for it!!! Yes you have to buy tickets but how else would you get into the park without them? You have to buy them anyway, right?
We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in January and because it is the Park's entrance, it felt like we were staying in the park itself!!
Breakfast everyday was great and the restaurant overlooked Main Street
IMHO many of the rides are better than at WDW (BTM, SM,) and the new T of T is quite different to the WDW version. DLRP also has the prettiest castle in all Disneydom!!!
Yup go for it. But keep an open mind. Remember it's a lot smaller than WDW and caters for many languages and cultures.
I love DLRP. It's my spiritual home

We also stayed at the Disneyland Hotel this past May. We stayed 4 nights (weekdays) and we ended up saving lots of $$$ using our points. The same vacation paid in cash would've be to expensive for us. When we booked, they still hadn't implemented the $95 fee per reservation on non DVC hotels, so now you should take that amount into account when you budget your vacation. The DL Hotel has the advantage to be right at the door of the DL park and a short walk (less than 5 min) from the studios and the village.
We spent our last day sightseeing paris. We took the train that is also at 5 min from the hotel.
The breakfast at the DL Hotel is a full breakfast, including hot items such as scramble eggs, pancakes and bacon, whereas in the rest of the hotels it's continental. There were characters at the entrance of the restaurants for picture taking and autographs.
My main dispointment with this hotel was the pool. It looked like a rehabilitation center and was not good for little ones. The floor was very slippery and there was no space for them to stand up on the pool.
Also, the DL hotel has no counter service restaurant, and the two restaurants on site are very expensive. You are left with the options offered in the village in terms of food.
In all, I loved the convenience of the hotel in terms of being so closed to the parks, but in future trips I think I would try others that have more appeal for small children, and I will probaby use my points too.

When I called MS yesterday, they told me we have to buy a three day pass for a minimum of two nights stay. The most we wanted to do was one day in the park, if not half day, based on the fact we have never been to Paris and only have two days to spend. I have a feeling my hope of adding Paris to our "once in a lifetime" trip is diminishing :sad1:

Thanks for the input though!!

Paris can be a good deal. There are lots of great small hotels that don't charge an arm and a leg (and cost a lot less then a 3 day pass to DISNEY LOL!)

IMHO DLP was nice but Paris is not to be missed.

ITA! We were fortunate to travel to Europe last summer; spent two nights in Paris and then went over to DLP for two nights. I was not impressed at all - just did not feel that good ol' Disney magic there.

Now, Paris itself - we loved! I wish we had spent our total four nights in the city.

My family is from France and they've been here to WDW 3 times. They don't go to Paris Disney for the simple fact that ours is so much bigger & better. I would say save your points, stay at another local hotel and enjoy the city.

 We used our DVC points and stayed at DLP at the Newport Bay Club resort. We had a great time and for your info there is a train to Paris right near the entrance to the park. In about 30 minutes you are in Paris. The hotel was nice and the free breakfast was a nice add on. You have to get there early or it gets very crowded.

The "nightlife" at DLP, the hotels and their "Downtown" Disney were a bit disappointing. Seems like everything closes earlier than we expected. Be prepared for the cost of the food there, it was very expensive. But don't let that ruin your time. Like I said we had a great time. We used the hotel as a base to see other areas of France and go to Paris.

We used the Disney bus to go from the airport and back.pirate:

I also found it to be the worst food ever at a Disney park.

I mean we are in FRANCE home of good food and they have the nerve to serve that garbage!:confused3 They did sell wine with it, but that was the only edible part. YUCK! LOL!
