I have just wrapped up my 4 day visit to DL, my very first trip there, and likely my last. I have heard many people say that your "home" park will always be the one you favor and that holds true here. I have noticed many difference between the two destinations, but will limit my rant. The biggest thing I noticed was that in WDW it seems like the people who work there either have better training, or just simply care more about their jobs. When at certain attractions in WDW you notice the cast members really getting into the theme. EX. Haunted Mansion, in WDW they really emphasize the haunted feeling. They actually make it feel like you are going through a real haunted house. In DL I saw no "acting", no emphasis, just "please step away from the walls". In WDW you would hear "Please step into the DEAD center of the room". It is hard to explain. And not once did I hear ANYONE say "Have a magical day". Which is second nature in WDW. The last complaint I have and it really pissed me off as my daughter heard it, we were having lunch at the Coke Corner on main street and Poppins and Bert were there taking pictures, so after we ate my little one had her picture taken, and as we were walking away Bert said to Poppins "It's hot out here, how much longer do we have to stay out here". Now I understand fully that it was hot out there and they are in costume so even hotter, BUT you do not say that with kids in earshot. Kids are not stupid and when they hear that they know that you don't want to be there. I lodged that complaint with DL directly. There's more and yes, there were high points to the vacation and I will write a longer blog in a couple of days, but if some of you could tell me if these sound isolated or if it is common occurrences I'd appreciate.

Every time ive been on HM the CM says "Kindly drag your body to the DEAD center of the room" I have never found them to not be in character or very into their job. It might be just me but I go to DL at the very least twice a year and have never had an issue with ANY CM not enjoying/having enough training/disappointed/bored with their job, in fact, interacting with the CM's are my DH and my favorite thing to do while there.

But I understand if WDW has your heart....I feel the same way about my home state and DL...

I just love when someone with a post count of 2 come here and says stuff like this.

At any rate, it makes me happy. Have fun in WDW and I will enjoy knowing there are a few less people crowding DLR. :thumbsup2

I know what you mean. Just a troll - nothing to see here, move along.

We have been to Disneyworld every year for the past 14 years and I couldn't disagree with you more. We have spent the last week here and found that the staff are far more friendly and better trained at Disneyland. This includes the hotel staff at the resorts. Maybe it's the sheer difference in size and number of employees but they genuinely seem to care more.

Maybe you were at Knotts Berry Farm and were confused? :confused3

I will write a longer blog in a couple of days.......

Might want to break up the major thoughts into paragraphs....so it's easier to read.

:)

Ranting about how much Disneyland sucks in comparison to [fill in the blank] to a bunch of people who love Disneyland on a subforum dedicated to Disneyland seems like such a colossal waste of emotional energy. Holding on to anger and negativity just leads to unhappiness.

I once took a trip to Jamaica and had a horrible time. I didn't go over to a Jamaican tourist forum and tell everyone how much I hated their little island. It just wasn't for me, so I considered it a learning experience, moved on, and now plan my vacations elsewhere. :confused3

I'm sorry Disneyland wasn't what you hoped it would be, but complaining about it here will really only lead to prolonging the negativity you already feel about your trip.

I'm sorry that your visit wasn't all you had hoped for. I haven't noticed any CMs being rude or not in character, but I am sure there are some CMs that are not quite up to Disney standards or are just having a bad day - it would be impossible to achieve perfection. I'm guessing that since WDW is your "home" park, you might have been looking for or noticing these things more at DL, whereas you might just blow them off at WDW . . . I think that's only natural.

I guess I haven't really noticed anyone at DL telling me to have a magical day (except maybe on the phone), but we've still had many magical days at both parks without being instructed to do so.

Looking forward to reading your post with the high points of the trip! :)

This.

Don't get me wrong. I don't have a 'Disney can do no wrong' attitude. But it seems like an odd place to vent about this.

FTR, I have never had anyone at Disney say "have a magical day". I will survive. I GUESS. :headache::laughing:

Call me selfish, but I like that DL isn't for everyone. Imagine how crowded it would be if everyone chose DL over WDW!

It can be hit or miss with CMs. Some are more into it than others, some are having better days than others. That is true at either resort. To act like it is a purely DL issue is stupid.

We were at DL this month, rode Haunted Mansion twice, and both times got "Drag your bodies into the DEAD center..." I actually noticed it both times because I have heard that at WDW...but not every time we ride. I thought, "Cool."

We also had probably our best CM performance ever, at any park, last week at Tower of Terror. Our CM at the elevator loading area was actually doing gymnastics - swinging off things and jumping in and out of doors and acting like such a lunatic that I think his antics made my kids more nervous than the ride itself did. My five-year old turned to me and said, "He's just being funny, right. He will keep us safe?" It was great.

:lmao: Your poor kid :rotfl:

That's awesome!

Also, I hear "have a magical day" almost every time on the parking lot tram (and I used to work at DTD and had to take the tram in, so I heard it a LOT).

We were at DL the end of July, beg of Aug. We usually got to WDW.

I totally DISAGREE with you. I thought the place was immaculate and the cast members were great. The cast member who had us in the stretching room startled us so by booming about getting away from the walls. I dont know what her exact wording was, but her tone was "haunting".

I have been impressed with DL both time we have been there.

The only negative was all the construction in DCA, that was a total bummer to see everything like that, walls everywhere, no GG bridge, no letters.

I disagree, this chart clearly shows that:
