I have got it bad!!! My DH said he wants to go on vacation somewhere else other than WDW (I say where else is there?) So I come up with DL!!! He said sure!! I feel bad for saying this but...I don't want to go to DL. It's not WDW!!! Help me!!! I have not been to DL for about 25 years!!! So I am sure it will be new to me again. Any other WDW freaks out there who can help me get excited about DL?? I need my WDW!!! :flower:

DL is great. I think you can actually have a relaxing vacation there. If you stay at one of the on-site hotels, you can truly park your car and walk everywhere...you don't even need to get on a bus or tram. Stay at the DLH, then every morning you walk thru DTD, with the happy music playing, right to the gates of the parks. Yes, DTD is just right there... everything is just right there. And if you're used to staying deluxe, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the prices of the on-site hotels.

I went to DL for about 25 years before I ever went to WDW, and I actually like it better! It's not as big, and there is not as much to do, but it is compact and so fun! California Adventure is pretty fun too. You will have a great time, so don't worry. I have gone to DL almost every summer for the past 30 years, (all of my life!) and will be in DL in July. I'm so lucky that I get to visit both DL and WDW almost every year now! I love them both so much.
Have fun! :earsgirl:

DL can be a lot of fun! The new California parks has some things in it that you won't find at WDW, and the Indiana Jones ride at the DL park is great! Also, they have a Snow White stage show that is cute that you won't find anywhere else.

My FAVORITE thing that we found at DL was in their version of Innoventions (which is set up different than the one at WDW). They actually had a place where you get to REALLY try a Segway (those motor scooter things with 2 wheels). We saw a Demo at WDW, but they didn't let people try them. You have to be 16 and sign a waiver, but it was FREE and so neat!

Anyway, I think it would be well worth the trip. I admit, WDW is better over all, but if you haven't been to DL in a long time you will be pleasantly surprised and you will get to see some great new Disney things!

Our family (including my girls) really loved an exhibit at the California park where you learned about how animation is made AND they had a place where you got to record your own voice for an animated clip. That was cool!

Go visit the DIS board for Disneyland. Those people were GREAT in helping us plan our trip.

Good Luck!

The parks at DL are great and the whole area does carry a resort feel to it w/ DTD and CalifAdv. I think you might find yourself enjoying the nostalgia of the original MK park as well as the relative simplicity of everything being so compact.

One of the better things about DL is the other things you can do in the area... LA, Hollywood, San Diego, beaches, mountains, desert, etc. all within a couple hours drive (heck even San Francisco is a day or two drive up the coast)

Oh, by the way, California Screamin at DCA is my favorite roller coaster anywhere. It's exciting but smoooooooooooooth.

I understand what you mean, my DH also wants to go somewhere else next year. There's something wrong with me, I don't want to go anywhere on vacation unless I know I'll see Mickey there!

DH has always wanted to go to California, so I'm going to see if we can work DL into our plans too.

Talk about Dejavu! We just returned from WDW the last week of February and my DH said the exact same thing so I said the same thing you did. "How about DL?" He said yes, ok and I started planning. A week later my dad calls and says "we're going to WDW next Febraury, you want to go?" and just like that my DL plans were out the window and it's back to WDW. DH grudgingly agreed. I haven't been to DL for about 11 years but I grew up in CA and so I learned to love DL as a child but WDW as an adult. I just can't stand missing WDW while everyone else will be there. WDW, here we come.....Again!
