Haven't booked a stay under Disney Collection yet. Thinking about booking @ DL for next June. Anyone care to give a brief overview, specifically:

Do 11/7 month windows apply here?

Can I use banked points to book, as long as I follow the 60 day rule?

You can book the DL resorts as early as 11 months before check out. You may use banked (or borrowed) points for the reservation.

DVC recently relaxed the 60 day rule for the DL resorts. You may now book and stay during the last 60 days of your use year for those resorts. Details are on the Members' Website.

Unless you are very, very sure of your dates, don't be in a hurry to book. Once you book, the points you use can not later be used for a reservaiton at a DVC resort.

FYI in 2007, weekend nights will cost more than weekday nights. We just got back from a Friday and Saturday night stay that cost us 23 points per night. If we do the same in 2007, it will cost us 30 points per night. But if you stay on a weekday night in 2007, the same time period in 2007 will only cost 19 points per weekday night.

Is it OK to say only if you are talking about something in the Disney Collection? ;) :teeth:

Best wishes -

Hope you had a great time @ DL. DH & I have both wanted to visited since we watched the Wonderful World of Disney many years ago (typical boomers LOL).
Since I don't want to book until we're relatively sure, do you think 5 or 6 months ahead of time (for late June) will still get us a standard room?

Have no idea - maybe you could ask on the DL Forum. I think summer is a busier time for DL than spring.

Best wishes -

The Disneyland onsite hotels can get really booked up during peak seasons and almost always sell out on the weekends. They also get a fair amount of convention travellers. I would think that 5-6 months would be far enough out but you never know with those hotels, they are harder to predict than the WDW hotels. The Disneyland Hotel seems to sell out first incidentally.

Well Let me give you some advice on DL from a CA. Perspective!

We visit DL about 5 - 6 times a year DD (who will be 2 in May) has gone 15 times - We own AP's and highly recommend this option becuase of the food, free parking, and merchandise discounts throughout the resort. Especially if you are staying 7 or more days.

June is definetly high season for DL but in 2007 the new finding Nemo submarine adventure will be open and Space Mountain will have the added "Rocket Mountain" feature at night where the experience and music changes to a Van Halen soundtrack! there will also be a new Parade by then and possibly a new or adapted fireworks show.

Your point booking notes from previous posts are spot on - try to book more week nights for the point savings. June puts you past the "grad nights" period so you don't have to worry about DL closing early to accomodate those parties like you do in May. DL should be open 8 AM to Midnight each day. Weekends are particularly busy all throughout the year and Summer is challenging too since DL has about 700,000 AP holders out there. But as Matt Ouimet and his WDW team have opened quite a few attractions again and in the process of building quite a few more this will really help with overcrowding.

Also if you have a car there is a Disney character Warehouse store in Fullerton, CA (One Town over off of Harbor blvd) which is the main street running along DL. It's about 4 miles down the road but it gets all of the park extra merchandise and the prices are deeply discounted so you can stretch you Disney dollars farther. these are similar to the Roving character warehouse operations all over the country, except this is the main "permanent" location (there is now also another permanent location in Las Vegas.)

Book your hotel as far in advance as possible - DLH does sell out first so once you know you are going get that booked. Air Travel into Orange county is the closest airport - Alaska Air is a good discount airline along with southwest that fly into orange county. there are shuttles that go to all of the Anaheim hotels for 20.00 per person each way. Downtwon Disney is nice - it runs through the middle of the resort between GCH, DL and CA adventrure. Not as elaborate as the FL version but there are some nice resturants (house of blues, rain forrest, ralph brennan's, tortilla joe's) most serve just lunch and dinner.
DLH has a Goofy's kitchen character buffeteria, Granville's Steakhouse (that also serves a good Breakfast!) and make sure to plan a meal at Carnation Cafe on Main Street U.S.A ask for a table along the sidewalk (theres only 3 of them) it's great for people watching and also ask if Oscar is working - He has worked at DL since 1956 was hired by Walt himself! one of only three original cat members left working who can claim that!

Have a great trip and i hope this will help planning your trip,

You also will love the Dessert Buffet for Fantasmic (ask for the Balcony Seating section but cmoe hungry for desserts or bring a little ziploc container to take extra for later at 50.00 per seat you have to maximize your money's worth!)

Thanks,
whiles

I booked GC for this June 11-16 in early March. I checked the availability on Feb. 28 and only 3 nights were all booked for the month of June. By the time I made the reservations a week later, the 1st week of June was completely booked in addition to a couple more dates scattered throughout the month. Other than the dates that all 3 were completely booked, I don't know if one of the hotels or even just standard views were sold out on other dates.

I felt lucky specific dates and standard view GC were available for me. :Pinkbounc

Not sure how much the 50th affected availability this year, or how the reduced points will affect it next year.

Good luck!!
