DL Newbie

We are adding on two days at DL to another family trip in a couple of weeks. I have a couple of questions because I’ve only planned WDW or DCL and it seems different.

1. Photo pass: Where do I purchase a trip package? I have googled and searched the site, but cannot find the button where I purchase unlimited pics.

2. Are there photo opportunities like in WDW in front of the castle and other spots throughout the park?

3. Are there WDW like crowds where it’s claustrophobic?

4. We are staying at a good neighbor hotel. We want to use the shuttle. I downloaded the app and it has bus service and request a ride. Is the request a ride free? Can’t seem to find an answer.

5. Since it’s last minute and we don’t have dining reservations can we request at the park and wait? We’ve been added at WDW before.

Thanks so much! I really tried to Google and was overwhelmed. Some stuff was too old and I didn’t know if it would hold.

3) sometimes! Disneyland is physically smaller so it can actually get more crowded, but I think it’s easier to avoid the crowds at Disneyland due to the longer hours and greater variance in attendance day to day
4) What’s the service/app?
5) Yes and also keep checking dining availability as it changes constantly. I would say Disneyland has better walk up availability than Disney World.

1, If you get Genie+, you'll get free Photopass for each day you buy it. Otherwise, I believe you buy it in the Disneyland app.

2. Yes, in front of the Castle, on Main Street, in Galaxy's Edge near the Millennium Falcon, each time you meet a character at a meet and greet. Characters that walk around do not stop for pictures unless they get to their standard spot they hang out in.

3. Yes, in the afternoons and evenings it can get very crowded. Since Disneyland is a smaller park, it can feel a bit overwhelming, especially in spaces like Adventureland and New Orleans Square. The best advice is to get there early and do as much as you can and then take a break or take it easy when the crowds get huge.

4. No idea, we always stay within walking distance across Harbor Blvd.

5. Most locations offer walk up dining which you can join via the app

3. DL feels more claustrophobic than MK but at least everything is close together. It didn't feel like a big deal walking from Toontown to Critter Country unlike Storybook Circus to big Thunder Mountain at MK

3. Are there WDW like crowds where it’s claustrophobic? Sometimes. Depends on the day.

5. Since it’s last minute and we don’t have dining reservations can we request at the park and wait? We’ve been added at WDW before. Check the app the day before and you will have an abundance of options. Also check the day off if you are unable to get what you want.

1. You do not have to purchase the photopass package ahead of time. After the trip, review your photos and decide if you want to purchase them. Select a photo from the first day of your trip. You will be given the option to purchase just that photo or one-week of photos. Just make sure to pick a photo from the first day so your 7-day window will start at the right time.
