DL Newbie ... a bunch of random questions ...

Thanks-I thought so. Was confused by OPs report of getting two while staying offsite? Or maybe I misunderstood their lodging plans.

The OP meant there were 2 when they were planning to go, messing up their plans. Not that they get to go during EMH.

I think you'll have an easy time finding something to eat, the food is pretty good at most CS places. We really like to eat soup bowls at the Pacific Wharf café, the seating area is large and there are 2 other CS restaurants in the same location (Chinese and Mexican); this area is basically in the center of the park. We enjoy the Mexican food at DL (Rancho Del Zocalo), it's a good value, the food is tasty, and the seating area is nicely themed; it's next to Thunder Mountain. The menu at Flo's Café has changed since it first opened and a lot of people are disappointed in the new options. We've had a turkey salad there a few times and it's alright.

At DCA we typically arrive about 20-30 minutes before park opening (non EMH days) and they let us in to wait behind a rope. We usually go to the rope nearest Soarin'. The path leads you through a forested area and heads to the Pier, it's a longer walk but less crowded. We go straight to Toy Story as the line is very short. After riding one or two times we'll walk over and get FPs for RSR. By then the initial line is gone, but the FP are still available. The first year + they were gone within an hour because the FP were disconnected from the other machines and people were allowed to line up before park opening to get them. Now there is no formal line up and the passes are connected. I think a lot of people rush to the ride and try to ride it first and go back for FP later. Keep in mind this ride breaks down frequently and that can be annoying. I've never used single rider for RSR as we have a young daughter tall enough to ride (rider swap for the other), but it is definitely the way to go if you only have adults or the kids are 8+ and don't mind going alone on the ride.

I've heard many different (incorrect) names for many attractions. This is a new one. :tiptoe:

Just a little nickname I had for it but I corrected it for you since it bothered you. I was super excited to be helping out the original poster. No need to be so serious. First time I have ever heard the word Fantaluminishes :earboy2: hehe
