DL Monorail going to be down for quite awhile........

Hi all,

Just read on Mousesavers that the monorail is currentl y only partially operational (no complete loop) due to major work and also, it will CLOSED COMPLETELY later this month until sometime in 2007 for a complete overhaul.
Wow!! That's going to present some conjestion problems for other transportation. I know our family uses the monorail exclusively for any transportation in the Magic Kingdom area. I haven't been on the ferry in years and don't think I've ever used a bus to/from MK. On days we hop from MK/Epcot or vice versa it's always the monorail. Really the only time we use alternate transportation is when we stay at VWL and use the boats from WL dock to MK. I knew there was a major project coming up ........I guess I just didn't realize the extent of it!!

Please omit all of the above........I guess I just saw monorail and panicked before I went back and realized it was DL not WDW.........

I believe tht is the Disneyland monorail - I know it is currently in this same plan

This was on an earlier thread and it was concluded that the article (although apparently very misleading where they have pictures and stuff) refers to the Disneyland monorail.

I'm looking at the Mousesavers newsletter right now. It is definitely the Disneyland monorail, in Anaheim, California.

That certainly is good news for WDW, but now bad for the folks planning for Disneyland. Our day will come, that's for sure.

I doubt the WDW monorail would go down for any significant length of time like thay're doing in Disneyland. At Disneyland, the monorail is more of an attraction than transportation-- it just takes you between Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney. The WDW monorail is integral to the resort's transportation system, so it can't undergo a complete rebuild without extra buses, boats, etc. to transport people.

Sorry everyone..........I guess I just read monorail and jumped the gun and didn't look which park it was. However, I am relieved it's not WDW because I
really can't imagine the transportation nightmare that would create. My apologies for creating a stir!!

Wow I was almost hyperventilating when I read the OP. But after reading all the posts I am now breathing normally again.

I would highly recommend changing the OP or the Title.

Hm. That means its gonna be down during my October trip to DL. I love riding it from Tommorowland over to Downtown Disney.
But, I am glad for everyone who is going to WDW!

Oh my!!! I started reading this thread and it was not good...BF will only go if we stay on the monorail (I raised a Disney Snob!!! My own fault...but oh well) and if the monorail was down it wouldnt be a good thing...thank goodness its DL!!!
