The time has finally arrived where I can start making definitive plans for our family's June 2015 trip to DL. WOOT!
Last time we went was 2 years ago, so we are really looking forward to this trip. We'll be celebrating my & DH's 20th wedding anniversary plus birthdays for our kids (both born in June, anniversary in early July).
last time, we went for 3 days and I didn't feel like I got enough time to savor everything. So this time we are going for 5 days. My general plan is this:
Sun 6/7 - drive to Anaheim, check into hotel
Mon 6/8 - DLR
Tues 6/9 - hit Magic Morning extra early at 7am (get to gates by 6:30 am)
Wed-Fri - more DLR! Probably take whole afternoon & evening off on Wed
Sat 6/13 - check out of hotel & hit the road to drive home
I would LOVE to stay at the DL Hotel, but it's not likely in our budget. I do NOT want to be battling things out in the DLR parking lots early in the a.m., so a hotel within very easy walking distance is a must.
I've settled on 2 options based on lots of reading - Candy Cane Inn or BWPPI. Some plusses of Candy Cane Inn from what I can tell are:
Some plusses & minuses of BWPPI from what I've read:
In terms of room rates between these 2 hotels, my options are:
Including the $10/day cost of parking at BWPPI, staying at the Candy Cane Inn is only about $90 more for larger beds. I'm curious to hear from folks who have stayed at both places. What did you like or not like about each of them? I am leaning toward the Candy Cane Inn at the moment. I want to snag the good room rate, so am hoping to make a reservation by Christmas.

I've settled on 2 options based on lots of reading - Candy Cane Inn or BWPPI. Some plusses of Candy Cane Inn from what I can tell are:
- hotel has its own dedicated shuttle, which will help when our feet are tired
- free breakfast
- better pool area than BWPPI, from what I can tell from the pictures
- has a very good reputation for good customer service
- $10 off/night coupon for your next stay
- we are AAA members, so we can get 10% off (same discount as AP holders)
Some plusses & minuses of BWPPI from what I've read:
- free breakfast, but you might have to duke it out with the other hotel guests for a table to eat your breakfast
- just about THE CLOSEST to the park entrances. HUGE PLUS since our strategy is to take a break in the afternoon and avoid the bulk of the crowds
- pool area isn't much to look at. My kids live in the water in the summer, so a lousy pool or a small pool is a detractor here. From what I've seen of the online pics of their pool, it's kind of sad.
In terms of room rates between these 2 hotels, my options are:
- $125.10/night for 2 double beds @ BWPPI
- $152.10/night for 2 queen bed minisuite @ BWPPI
- $152.10/night for 2 queen bed room (not mini-suite) @ BWPPI
- $148.00/night for 2 queen bed standard room @ Candy Cane Inn
