We're heading out to CA in mid-July - 16-27 to see our daughter. My son wants to stop at DL for 4 days before heading to Sacramento/SanFran We just got back from DW where it was extremely HOT!! :sunny: Is DL just as hot (90's) in July? and is it crazy crowded - we've never been, so I have no clue as to the crowds or weather. Thanks

It is hot and crowded in July. However we do not have the humidity that florida does. I would take 100 in CA over 90 in FL any day. In fact when we where in FL a few years ago, I was watching news reports, and it was regularly 10+ degrees hotter at home, and I said, I would rather have those temps.

We do get our 100+ temp days, though it depends on where you are. You could be in downtown LA and it be 80 degrees, and be where I live and be 95+.

I was in Orlando during the last week of April (last month). EVERY time I stepped outside, I felt like I had to take a shower immediately. :faint:

We've also been to DL in early August - comparable temps, I think (80-90's). Yes, it was hot (I think 70 is hot, LOL). But if you stepped into the shade/inside, then stepped back out, you were okay. Didn't feel like there was a constant layer of sweat on you (I know, men sweat, ladies shine...) princess:

Even though it's hot & crowded, Disneyland is still fun. My cousins came out from Texas last year at this time and they had a blast.

Yes, hot and crowded, but it's managable.

Go early to DL--at opening if you can. It's cooler and not so crowded. At 11:30am-ish when you have done the big rides you can sit and have lunch and watch the late-birds pour into the park. See a few things on your way out of the park and take a break for a few hours (swim, nap, whatever) and return for the evening and night.

Take advantage of FP.

DCA and DL are only a 100 yards (200yds? someone help me out) from gate to gate, so it's no hassle to get from one to another and bounce between the parks.

Having been to Orlando in mid July and Disneyland in early August it was no way a comparison. As someone mentioned above the lack of humidity and the pacific coastal affect makes a big differerence. We are going again this time early July. In fact if you go please be aware that it cools off quite a bit once the sun goes down - we froze eating outdoors in August! Make sure you bring a sweater or light jacket for the evening. 55 can be quite cool after a full day of sun. It all depends on what you are used too. We have been in California for 2 years now and still can't get used to the cool evenings in the summer - we came from Minnesota. Sacramento will be quite hot during your trip (90's to 100) it is away from the coast. San Francisco you may be lucky too get out of the 60's.

If you get there early, it's not very crowded or hot. During the hotter times, ride indoor and good capacity rides like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Star Tours, any indoor show or character meet.

Oh and make sure you bring a hat and sunglasses for everyone. If you haven't been to California before you will be amazed that outside of the morning/evening fog that sometimes comes in you may not see a cloud the whole time in July. (at least it was to us who spent many years in the midwest) The constant sun can really affect the eyes, but it is beautiful.

So what you guys are saying is that it IS possible to visit DL and still have a good time in July?

We are thinking of going July2007 and since this is a once in a lifetime trip, we want to spend 10 days in California. Possibly buy the 5 day hopper and do an outside visit or 2 . If we want to take 10 days to go, we can only go in July. DH cannot have more than 7 days at any other time of year...

We have seen the crowds in July at WDW, do they compare? And what is this that I read....COOL evenings in July???? Wow, we really gotta go now!!!!

Another question, are the parks ever closed because they have reached capacity in July(mid- to late July)? I just need to get a feel of the crowds.

TIA!

We always go to DL in July. It does have days that are pretty hot, but nothing compared to WDW in April/May! The heat doesn't bother us at all. It usually gets pretty cool in the evening, so we always go back to the room and put on a sweatshirt and jeans and we are perfect.
It is crazy crowded though! I have never been to WDW in July, so I don't know how they compare, but the lines can be over an hour wait at DL. Just get there early, leave mid-day for a rest/nap, and go back in the evening, and Fastpass!
Have fun! :wizard:

Disneyland in the first week of August was crowded - probably the same as Disneyland in July, but DCA was a very nice break. I remember waiting for lines at Disneyland, but remember the overall experience being better then Magic Kingdom, but that may have been that the kids were a bit older 10 & 12 vs 7 & 9. Stayed on site both times, but Disneyland was much easier due to closeness. We are going July 3rd & 4th - so will see this time. I just expect crowds and it doesn't make it so bad. ;)

We go every year in July. Usually the second week and we are there for a week. It's busy and crowded but we love it. When it gets too hot we go back to the hotel and swim, take a nap and then get ready for the night back at Disneyland.
