I am booking my next Disneyland vacation and and thinking about the DL Hotel (we generally stay at The Grand). I have a couple of questions for people who have stayed there:

1. Are there any standard rooms that have three sleep surfaces? We LOVE the bunk beds at The Grand and I am not sure how my kids would handle sharing a queen bed.

2. Can you take the monorail directly into the park at opening/magic morning or do you need walk into the main entrance?

Thanks!

Some of the rooms have 2 Queen beds plus a daybed.

Yes you can take the monorail during emh. However, in november when we were there they didn't open bagcheck until the start of emh, so the first ride into disneyland didn't go until about 5 minutes after emh had begun. This could be a major setback if you are trying to be first in line for an attraction such as peter pan.

Our room had 2 queens and a pull out couch. You can request this type of room but they tell you they can't guarantee it.

You can do the monorail for EMH. They told us it would be packed so don't do it. Both days the lines were short and we wish we would have done it.

Usually the rooms that have pull-out couches are reserved for parties of five, but if they have any left, and if you request one, you will probably have a good chance of getting one.

Yes, you can take the monorail, but in goes into tomorrowland and sometimes it doesn't always run. For EMH, I recommend just going to the front gates, because that way you will probably get there quicker. But sometimes the monorail does beat the front of gate crowds, especially if you are going to tomorrowland.

I think the monorail works best when you are tired at the end of the night, and willing to save some steps, but not necessarily time.

You'll walk by the monorail entrance on the way to the main gate anyway, our rule of thumb is if it looks like the amount of people already there will fill up the first monorail just keep walking to the gate.
