I think there is often a misconception that because a thread was originally started a long time ago, it somehow doesn't have any current info in it. I'm not sure why. A lot of threads that were started years ago have posts on page 1 that are updated. And the ones that don't have an updated page 1 have current/recent posts at the end of the threads.
You need only look as far as the last several pages of the Dining thread that
Mouse Fanatic mentioned above to know that there has been a lot of activity in it recently! I, myself, have posted photos in it in just the last week, and several other DIS'ers have been posting as well. Start at the end of the thread and work your way backwards. You can also use the Search this Thread feature within any thread to look for keywords, such as, for example, "Carnation Café," or "Storytellers," or "Dole whips," etc., to find specific posts with photos of particular foods or from restaurants you're interested in!
Instead of starting multiple different threads for certain subjects each year, when one subject can be contained in one thread, it's easier -- and makes for a less cluttered board -- if we consolidate as many posts and bits of info in one place as possible.
That said, when a thread reaches page 250, it hits the page limit and a new thread needs to be started. The current Dining thread is going to reach page 250 in the not-so-distant future, at which time DIS'er
figment_jii will take the helm to host a brand new Dining thread!

Stay tuned!
