DL Dress Code

Last time I was there, it was mid August. Felt like room temperature until the sun started to set, then I was FREEZING. Going to DL in Jan, and worried about the temp. If a light jacket wasn't enough for me in August, how will an actual winter be?

I live in a similar climate to you, so I can sympathize. I went in early December one year and found it to be extremely cold when I wasn't moving around at night. I basically wore all the warm clothes I owned - leggings with jeans, thick socks, a thermal-type shirt with two hoodies over it, a hat and gloves, and I was still chilly. But that's when we were sitting still at night (waiting for parades and the like). When we were walking around I could take off the hat, gloves, and second hoodie. During the day I just needed a light jacket.

FWP - how am I supposed to show off all my cool Disney gear if I'm wearing fifty layers of clothes? For over a year now, I have been using a pretty sweet $60 Carsland jacket that I got at a local outlet not far from me for $15. I've been telling people how I FINALLY will actually get to wear it inside the actual Carsland. ...but it looks like it will just be another layer under a heavier coat. I also plan on bringing a DL shirt that was purchased at the park back in 1986. I really wanted to show that off, but it's just a shirt, and thus be covered. Had no issue last couple of years at WDW same time, and I brought layers just in case but never used them.

That is definitely something about SoCal weather people don't understand-it may be hot during the day but once the sun goes down it cools off quickly. Also, in the shade it is much cooler than sun. It's not like Florida where the humidity keeps it warm in the evening or shade.

I would just check weather before you get there and make sure to pay attention to the hourly predicted temps. Daytime can still be pretty warm.

I really don't understand the cheeks hanging out of shorts. The shortest shorts I'll wear to Disneyland go down to my knees and that is because when I sit down, my backside burns on the hot seats. Maybe I am just way more sensitive to sitting on something hot.

Many years ago, I was sitting on the curb waiting for a parade because my daughter was napping in the stroller. I wasn't in short shorts, but my butt was burning on the curb. I sat on my map and some napkins to try to keep my buns from burning, but still ended up with blisters anyway. How people sit bare cheeked on hot surfaces is beyond me.
